TOWN OF MASHPEE DESTGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING September 11 , 1996 The Design. Review committee met at 6 ; jo p.m, on Wednesdav , Septemheer L1 , 1996 at the Carol. Jacobson :;anior Centel.- , great Neck Road North . Present : William Hauck , Ex Officio; Tony Ferragamo , Chairman; and Ed Govoni . 1 . Honey Dew Donuts Mr . Steve Kyros , rt-presettin;S Hnnev Dew Donuts , said the revised Glans show the size of the sign reduced from the previous plans . The revised plan indicated the sign would not be on the corner, but more toward the center . Mr . Kvros was reminded that any sign over 20 sq. ft . requires a special permit . The "Drive-Thru" portion of the sign was not well received . A "Drive-Thru" sign cannot be on primary use , and is allowed only in C1--it is a zoning issue . Generally, it was agreed the sign is too large and too high. Mr . Kyros was advised to put up a plywood mock- up which could be viewed and commented upon. Mr. Kyros said he would contact Mr. Hauck in advance when the mock-up is ready to be viewed, preferably late in the day so that all interested parties could meet at the location. The size of the "Drive-Thru" will be reduced. The menu sign should be settled with the Building Inspector. Mr . Hauck left the meeting at 6 : 50 p.m. in order to attend another town meeting. The matter of internal lighting, front lighting or back lighting needs to be discussed with the Board of Appeals . 2 . Cape & Island Steel Mr. William Curry, representing Mashpee Industrial Park Trust , presented a site plan showing a buffer along the north side different from what was previously discussed . The dumpster location, changed MDC catch basin locations , and drainage talcs were shown. An illumination plan indicated a 20-degree angle tilt . The fact that lighting is extending beyond the lot should be made part of the special permit, it was suggested . Lighting will be addressed in the special permit . Power in the area is underground .
