ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> AUGUST 13, 1996 <br /> Paul Reynolds called the EDC meeting to order at 7 : 00 p.m. at <br /> the Senior Center. <br /> Members present: Steve Kyros , Ted Lewis , Paul Reynolds <br /> Alternates present: Cynthia Green, Steve Innis , Tom Potts , <br /> Sharon Koblinsky. <br /> Others present: Wayne Duchemin, EDC Coordinator <br /> Paul Reynolds asked for nominations for Vice Chair. Paul <br /> nominated Gloria Dube and Michael Schmidt. Paul will call them <br /> to see if either of them are interested. <br /> Sharon Koblinsky and Tom Potts need to get sworn in by the <br /> Town Clerk. <br /> The Minutes of June June 25 , 1996 and July 16 , 1996 were approved <br /> as amended. <br /> A discussion occurred about the recent interview of Wayne <br /> Duchemin for the Coordinator position. The Chairperson of the <br /> Personnel Board, Carol Dunivan, did not allow EDC members to <br /> ask Wayne questions. . Paul will find out the procedure for <br /> the interview process since EDC participated in the last <br /> interview one year ago. <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> Wayne sent a letter to the Environmental Coalition inviting <br /> them to attend EDC meetings and to participate in our sub <br /> committees. He asked to be put on their mailing list so that <br /> he can attend their meetings. No response has been received. <br /> Wayne talked to Carole Dunivan about her signage request. She <br /> will work with the Town' s Signage Committee. <br /> Wayne stated Augat has responded favorably to his suggestion <br /> of a tax incentive package with the Town. Karen Baptiste met <br /> with Augat and explained the EOA designation and process. If <br /> Augat makes an investment and creates jobs, the Town could give <br /> them tax incentives . Discussion occurred about negotiation <br /> strategy. We are going to negotiate with them as soon as they <br /> get a certified project submitted. Two Articles are being <br /> prepared for the October Town Meeting, one to designated Augat <br /> as an Equal Opportunity Area (EOA) and another to accept their <br /> certified application. John O' Brien is helping them. After <br /> their application is completed, Bob Whritenour will appoint <br /> the negotiation team. Wayne recommended that the Town Assessor <br />
