preparing a course for Falmouth re: youth entrepreneurialship;
Wayne could use some background material . Paul asked who the
main players should be and would like the names of 3 or 4 schools
who have this program in place. Beth Siegal has some information
from a school in Michigan who is doing it.
James O'Connell stated Suffolk College was looking for a site
on Cape Cod. Beth suggested a potential site be in New Seabury
since the retirement community is a good market for these
schools. Tom Fudala noted the connection with the Performing
Arts Center in New Seabury. Rooms in the new high school could
be used for evening programs and collaboration with colleges.
It will be a community building (a contract is in the works ) ,
and Tom Fudala cited a Michigan High School who had an incubator
school in which the public and business community could use
the building after school hours. A hotel is being planned for
Field' s Point on a pond. Tom Potts would like to see more on
hotels since they are needed in Mashpee. Wayne requested that
Bridgewater Technology Center Program be inserted.
Beth suggested developing a criteria for the Industrial Park,
market the quality of life and use the WEBB to identify people.
Chris Burden of New Seabury is willing to work with EDC on
recruiting businesses to the Industrial Park. The new president
of U. Mass lives in Popponesset. Wayne asked for some costs
associated with marketing strategies . Beth suggested planning
a public meeting to present the Report. Mt. Auburn will be
finished in March and is willing to make a presentation to
Mashpee. This would be like a TV presentation with no input
from the community. It should be well publicized not as a town
event but rather as a community event. Mt. Auburn will print
up 3 to 4 page executive summaries to hand out. Beth stated
they will be back for an evening or a Saturday morning
presentation.
Wayne will talk to Bob Whritenour re: keeping the Partnership
and expanding the Board and having many sub committees which
would all fall under the umbrella of Partnership. James
O' Connell and Tom Fudala stated they would continue if the
Partnership continues. Paul Reynolds will talk to Bob Whritenour
to find out his intention in terms of leadership role, will
Bob head it? A sample of sub committees under the Partnership
were: EDC, Finance, Education, Marketing. Tom Fudala will
ask Bob Whritenour about EDC being an ad hoc and if a quorum
is needed.
The Minutes of February 13 , 1996 were approved as presented.
The m'Qe^etinngg adjourned at 8 : 00 p.m.
Mary G1sthorpe, B and Secretary
-2-
