Finance Committee Minutes
February 19 , 1988
Page 3 .
Carl suggested that Article 6 also be made a line item.
Article #7 and #8 can be combined seeking the Town to raise
and appropriate $200 , 000 to the Stablization Fund . These funds are
needed for a new ambulance (approx . cost $62 , 000) a new . pumper
truck (approx . cost $180 , 000 - less with a trade in) and a 4-wheel
drive vehicle (approx . cost $15 , 000) . The Chief noted that he felt
he could save as much as 2 the cost of the pumper with the trade in .
He requested the money be put in Stablization to be appropriated
at future town meetings . The Chief also noted that a maintenance
program was to be put into place to keep up maintenance on the
present vehicles .
Article #9 seeks the Town to vote to raise and appropriate or
transfer from available funds the sum of $10 , 000 to complete the
upstairs of the Fire Department . The men are going to do the work
themselves , the $10 , 000 represents materials only . The Chief noted
the need for training room , more office space and a bunk room with
dividers . Chairman Heller expressed his belief that this should
be put in the Capital Program. Jean Thomas noted that she didn ' t
feel $10 , 000 would be enough money .
The Finance Committee will again meet with ' the Chief to
discuss the FY89 budget (March 3rd ) . Prior to that meeting Chairman
Heller requested the. budget be revised showing no one added to the
Department - the budget as presently submitted reflects four
additional persons . He would like to have this pulled out the the
budget and reflected in the Articles . He suggested leaving the
career recall as it is - if the Article passes then it will be
lowered .
