J
Finance Committee Minutes
February 24, 1988
Page 3.
Jean and Andy both noted that they are working with the Water District to -
get things going. Carl inquired as to the status of the Transition Agreement.. .
Jean noted that at present Town Counsel is reviewing, however it seems an
agreement is very near and hopefully will be reached prior to Town Meeting.
Andy explained the first item on the budget, the $20,000 for Professional
Services. This would be to get someone who will take on, for a limited time,
the over sight of the system. This would be part time, and the figure of $20,000
is speculative.
The figure of 0 for Bottled Water to Summerwood will have to be increased
The Highwood Appraisal will be permanetly delayed. The Water Contracts figure
could change. Jean noted that all the figures were speculative and hopefully
she would have more information as Town Meeting got closer.
The Finance Committee proceeded to discuss Articles . Article 441 is for
the acceptance of the Briarwood roadways. Joe Murphy noted that $266,575 will
bring up the quality of the roadways, however, it will not be up to sub-division
standards. Carl noted that he felt that it was a poor precedent to set, the
town taking over roads that were not up to sub-division standards.
Article #42 involves the construction of a town well and the Town
commitment to Falmouth.
Article #43 seeks Town authorization to replace mains in the Otis Trailor
Park. The main will be brought up to the boundary of the trailor park and
they will install their own water system.
Article #44 seeks Town approval to raise and appropriate or appropriate
and transfer $6, 155 to the Briarwood Water Project Account.
Article #45 involves a Town well - it has not been determined if this
Article will appear on the Warrant .
Jean noted that headway has been made with the Department of Defense in
relation to the Briarwood situation, and the negotiations are ongoing.
Hopefully more information will be forthcoming to Finance Committee members
on this budget and the Water Commissioners ' Articles .
The Finance Committee adjourned at 9: 15 p.m. the next scheduled meeting
is February 25, 1988.
Gail McNabb
Board Secretary
