Finance Committee Minutes
Page 3.
January 13, 1988
a new fire truck be purchased contigent upon the sale of the hose truck.
Article #3 seeks $6,00 from Revenue Available for Appropriation to the
Selectmen's Expense Account. Carl explained that the Selectmen's secretary
had resigned and the Executive Secretary' s secretary is doing the secretarial
work on a contract basis, he also noted another reason for this amount is the
search for a new fire chief has been costly. The Finance Committee recommended
this article.
Article #4 seeks $2,367.42 from Revenue Available for Appropriation
to pay bills from the prior year. These bills represent Police and Fire
accident and illness costs related to work. These bills are not covered by
Blue Cross because they are work related and there is no workman' s comp.
Article #5 seeks town acceptance of the layout and definition of Bowdoin
Road and to authorize the Selectmen to acquire by eminent domain on the town's
behalf land within the sidelines of said layout for this purpose and to
appropriate and transfer $1,000 from funds donated for this purpose for an
award of damages under direction of the Selectmen. Vern noted that the
$1,000 has to date not been received and this article is invalid unless the
check is received and clears the bank prior to February 1st . Carl felt that
the Finance Committee should wait and discuss the article on January 19th
when the Finance Committee will be meeting with the Selectmen.
Article #6 seeks the town' s acceptance of a parcel of land from Marsha
Marcioneete. Carl noted that this piece of property is in the so-called
Ivy League subdivision. There appears to be no clear title on the
development, with Marsters claiming ownership. Marcionette owns a parcel
right in the middle of this development and she is willing to donate it to the
town. Members of the Finance Committee agreed that the land should be
accepted.
Article #7 concerns a three-way switch of property. The article seeks
the town to vote to authorize the Selectmen to take by eminent domain 8. 72
acres of land in the Seabrook Pines Subdivision. Finance Committee members
agreed that we should take the land as it is written - provided the title is
proven clear.
Article #8 concerns the purchase, rent or lease with the option to purchase
five modular classrooms. .This may be a dead issue as the School Building Needs
Committee is presently looking at the bottom floor of the Town Hall. The
people and departments presently there will be moved to make room for the
classrooms. There are several alternatives being looked into for the location
of theses town offices i.e. old library building, old DPW building, and the
portable classrooms.
Article #9 received Finance Committee approval. This article is an
inter-department transfer of funds. The Treasurer would like town approval
to transfer $1,000 from the Tax Bill Printing Account to the Treasurer' s
Wages Account.
