He noted that the town need to have a recycling <br /> program , not just the DPW . <br /> Mashpee Neck Sewer Project - $259 , 560 This project would <br /> connect the densely developed Pirates Cove and Quaker Run Road areas , <br /> via a pumping station and force matin in Mashpee Neck Road to the <br /> East Mashpee sewer system at Quinaquisset Avenue . Funding would <br /> come through a 50% state grant , betterments and bonding . Members <br /> questioned if this project were not somewhat premature as there is <br /> no station to tie into as of yet . Chairman Heller noted that the <br /> Town Planner should address this issue . <br /> Capping of Landfill - $90 , 000 Ed Dolan noted that perhaps this <br /> could be postponed for a year . Perhaps this year it could be placed <br /> on a 22 override if it fails to carry then the town would have to <br /> fund it in FY91 . The state would have to go along with a variance . <br /> Gas Station - $175 , 000 Joseph Murphy had informed t. lie <br /> Finance Committee that a one-time 22 override could be used to <br /> fund this . It is believed that the town could save approximately <br /> 152 per gallon by using a town supply . At present there is only <br /> one bidder to supply gasoline to the town . <br /> Member Dunivan will address all the public works capital <br /> programs with Ernie Virgilio and report to the committee on <br /> February 7 , 1989 . <br /> Education <br /> School Site - $54 , 520 The land purchase esti-mated cost for <br /> a 47+ acre parcel is $605 , 775 . Chairman Heller noted that he felt <br /> the Finance Committee should move on this in view of the rapidly <br /> growing school-age population in town . He noted that when the new. <br /> school opens in September it will be at capacity . He felt the <br /> land purchase was highly advisable . <br /> Asbestos Removal - $5 , 400 Finance Committee saw this as a <br /> necessity . <br /> School Vans - $44 , 000 This is really for the purchase of <br /> 3 8-passenger station wagons for the transportation of kindergarten <br /> and special needs students . Carl noted that lie would address this <br /> request with Dr . . DeMoura . <br /> School Architect - $8 , 100 In FY92 the town w:i.:11 be seeking <br /> additional classroom space outside the existing schools . Since it <br /> takes 4-5 years to build a school and the Coombs school will open <br /> at capacity it is imperative to begin the process to construct a <br /> new school this year . R' <br /> School Truck - $29 , 500 Finance Committee is concerned about <br /> the various requests for trucks from different departments and <br /> would like to see if there couldn ' t be some sharing of vehicles . <br /> Carl will address this with Dr .
