Finance Committee <br /> February 7 , 1989 <br /> Page 3 . <br /> Carole informed the Committee of the cost to rent. the tractor, chipper <br /> and sweeper that Ernie has requested as capital items cost <br /> $21 , 000 per year . The Finance Committee was inclined to defer <br /> the tractor and the sweeper , however they were in favor of the <br /> wood chipper at $12 , 000 . <br /> The Finance Committee was in agreement that the total cost <br /> $150 , 000 of the Rte . 151 Traffic Light should be the responsibility <br /> of Fields Point . They did not feel that the town should have to <br /> pay 50% of this as it was to the benefit of the Fields Point Corp . <br /> Carole stated that Ernie Virgilio feels that the recycling <br /> program ( $50 , 000) should be self-funding . <br /> Finance Committee members debated the need for the town <br /> gas station ( $175 , 000) . Virgilio feels the town will save $4 , 000 <br /> to $6 , 000 per year . There is a fool-proof system of control . <br /> Ed questioned whether this was really cost-effective and questioned <br /> the environmental impact . Bill Towner was concerned with liability . <br /> The Finance Committee proceeded to review the Executive <br /> Secretary ' s opinion of the Capital Program . The Finance Committee <br /> noted their position . <br /> Voting machines - $22 , 065 - recommend action at annual Town Meeting . <br /> Mapping project - $300 , 000 - 22' override . <br /> Town Hall architect - $43 , 200 ( $480 , 000 new debt ) The Finance <br /> Committee felt that there is a need to <br /> establish priorities on architectural fees . <br /> This should be a 2; override . <br /> Town Hall ( Davis School ) - $9 , 450 ( $105 , 000 new debt ) boiler/ <br /> heating system . The Finance Committee <br /> agreed with the Executive Secretary to <br /> recommend a deferral to a special meeting <br /> later in the year . <br /> Town Hall truck - $15 , 000 - This request is now for a mini. van <br /> and the Finance Committee members felt <br /> they needed more facts about how <br /> it was to be used . <br /> Police cruisers - $43 , 950 - Finance Committee agreed with the <br /> Secretary ' s recommendation. This <br /> should appear as a line item in the <br /> police budget . <br /> Fire station compressor - $31 , 500 - Finance Committee felt this <br /> should be deferred . <br /> Fire Station architect - $60 , 000 - Finance Committee again stated <br /> their belief that arch:i.tectural <br /> projects should be prioritized . <br />
