Finance Committee Minutes
August 6, 1990
Page 4.
Tony Gallo expressed his concern about accuracy and felt that all the
figures provided by the i4ashpee Taxpayers' Association need to be source
referenced. Jim stated that the Association has asked that all requests for
research be made through him and that all requests be specific .
Deirdre and Will Hanson addressed the Finance Committee as members of
the Town Hall Building Committee. Deirdre stated that the present design for
the new Town Hall will provide enough room for 30 years, and has been designed
as a public facility and designed well. She noted that she :had researched
Pine Tree Place and felt that in the long run it would not be as cost-effective
and building a new facility. Will noted that the. Queen of All Saints Chapel
may also be an alternative if the people do not agree to go forward with a new
town hall in October. Will stressed that the Davis Building is in such
disrepair he didn't know how long the town offices could continue to operate in
it. He further added that if the town should agree to the capital project, of
a new town hall it would be 13 months before completion.
Chairman Vaccaro agreed with the members of the Town Hall Building
Committee and felt that a town hall was definitely needed and should be built
on the site as planned - but not now - citing Mashpee's high per capita debt.
and present fiscal situation. Will noted that the people will have to
decide in October.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m. There is a joint meeting with the .
Selectmen scheduled for August 27th at 7 p.m. and a Finance Committee
meeting scheduled for September 11th at 7 p.m.
rcW4f
Gail McNabb
Board Secretary
