, <br /> Town of Mashpe'e <br /> Personnel Board <br /> Minutes of Meeting, April 7, 1975 7:30 p m <br /> .t <br /> a RESENT: R Graham, W Clendenin, J Malone, R Maxim, C Brown <br /> e <br /> There was a discussion of the matter of.the Board of Selectmen bypassing the <br /> Personnel Board and appointing a Superintendent of 'Streets. 'Several possible <br /> courses of action were disssed: a) Discussion of matter with Attorney General; <br /> b) Conceivably employing Counse c) Obtaining a court injunction„ <br /> Recreational Director, Jerry DePalma attended the meeting to discuss various <br /> articles he is submitting for Town Meeting; also, he discussed his salary which <br /> the Board felt should be brought up at another time when this could be discussed <br /> in more detail . <br /> George Green, Highway Surveyor, attended to discuss an article he is submitting <br /> for Town Meeting re the authorization for hiring a full-time skilled laborer; he <br /> will send the Board a copy of this article and a copy of the State's requirements <br /> for maintenance of roads. Personnel Board reserved its decision pending further <br /> study of this matter. <br /> Chief Bingham, Police Department, attended to discuss salary for 'Deputy <br /> Chief". Personnel Board pointed out that this is not a town authorized position, <br /> and referred to letters dated March 21, 1972, December 14, 1972, and October <br /> 24, 1973 £rom, Board of Selectmen to Chief Bingham corroborating this fact. Personnel <br /> Board suggested Chief Bingham submit an article for Town Meeting authorizing this <br /> osition, but Chief Bingham said he is "submitting no articles" and feels this <br /> t� 'uld be "redundant since I already have a deputy chief". The subject of hiring <br /> a third sergeant has been dropped at this time by Chief Bingham, Re the secre- <br /> tary/dispatcher's position, he will request that this be made a full-time position <br /> of 40 hours rather than 21 hours, which it is now. After discussing the Grade <br /> classification for secretary positions in the town, the Chief accepted the salary <br /> figure suggested by the Board. Re Martin Luther King's birthday taken as a paid <br /> holiday, the Board suggested the Chief take this matter up with Finance Committee, <br /> There was a discussion of Board of Health's suggestion that position of full- <br /> time Health Agent be made part-time.. <br /> A letter was read from Conservation Committee requesting a job description and <br /> salary plan for full-time Conservation Officer. R . Maxim will prepar*e this. <br /> A copy of a letter from Brent McMahon to CETA was read, which gave them job <br /> descriptions for possible CETA funded positions for the Indian Museum, <br /> A letter from Brent McMahon was read, requesting that B. Jean Thomas, sec- <br /> retary/clerk in Selectmen's office be advanced to the position of Administrative <br /> Assistant to the Board of Selectmen, This will be discussed at our next meeting. <br /> Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> jsa <br />
