l
MINUTES OF MEETING
PERSONNEL BOARD
TOWN OF MASHPEE
• January 13, 1975 7:30 p.m.
PRESENT: W. Clendennin, J. Malone, C. Brown
The meeting was brought to order by William Clendennin,
acting chairman this evening.
Gordon Green, Assessor, was present to discuss budget and
salary figures for 1975.
Police Chief George Bingham presented evaluation reports
of police officers for Personnel Board files.
Chief Bingham discussed with the Board the hiring of
another police sergeant, to be considered at the' next regular
town meeting. There was a decision to have Mr.' Brown maks'in-
quiries as to the police staff size in other Cape towns, and Chief
Bingham will supply any other relevant information. Chief Bingham
also stated that with the exception of needing another sergeant,
he believes he is adequately.staffed.
Mr. Clendennin reported to Board on his meeting with the
school committee on 1/9/75 and that the salary of $3.35 per hour
for a recently hired secretary would be reduced to the .current
. pay scale for this position of $2.76 per hour.
1\ Mr. Clendennin reported also on the Selectmen's meeting on
1/8/75 which he and Mr. Graham attended. This involved Detective
Oeorge Costa's current work status. It was learned at that meeting
that Detective Costa will attempt to attain disability retirement.
Medical examinations were to be conducted within the next few
weeks and related reports were promised to the Personnel Board by
Detective Costa.
Mr. Clendennin advised the Selectmen that the Personnel Board
would not at this time recommend a $5,000 (6 months) salary for
a full time Building Inspector, request for which is in an article
submitted by the Selectmen for the next special town meeting.
Cost of living increases for town employees was also discussed
with the three Personnel Board members present, indicating a range
of 6% to 6.5%.
John Malone brought attention to the fact that Donald Duarte,
fire fighter, had been signing certain official correspondence
as "Lieutenant". It was determined that the Fire Chief be advised
again that no such position exists and that the individual should
refrain from such representation.
/— Having no farther business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
