Minutes of The Personnel Board Meeting of November 29, 1976 <br /> The meeting of the Personnel Board was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Frank , <br /> Leonardi, Chairman with members Wilma Graham and Ken Parolski present. <br /> i. <br /> Minutes of the November 16, 1976 meeting accepted as read... ' <br /> The following vacation approved David F. Fitzgerald--1/8/77--1/17/77• ' <br /> The Board welcomed the presence of. Selectmen George Benway, Robert Maxim and <br /> Kevin O 'Connell; Frank Hicks, Executive Secretary; Jean Thomas, Administrative <br /> Secretary; Jerry DePalma, Recreation Director; George Boughan, Auditor, <br /> Robert A. Bianchi from Town Counsel's office and Chief of Police George Bingham, <br /> who came at the request of the Board to discuss various matters. <br /> It was decided that due to the untimely death of Mrs. Barbara Pocknett, the <br /> previously advertised position of temporary town accountant would be changed <br /> In classification to that of permanent. The Board after discussion duly <br /> moved and seconded that Mrs. Joan Muse be recommended to the Board of Selectmen <br /> to fill the vacancy of Town Accountant:' <br /> In keeping with the above, a meeting was set up with Mrs. Muse at the Board's <br /> next meeting of December 6, 1976 for further discussion of this position with <br /> her. <br /> The subject matter involving Mr. Ralph Hendricks of the Town Maintenance Crew <br /> • 1 was discussed at length and upon motion duly made .and seconded it was voted: j <br /> that a recommendation be made to the Board of Selectmen reimbursing Mr. <br /> Hendrick's for the one week salary withheld from him. <br /> In keeping with the above, it was also recommended to the Board of Selectmen <br /> that Mr. Hendricks be notified in writing that any future violations involving <br /> his work would result in immediate dismissal. <br /> The Board then discussed the matter of Sgt. Robert Costa's recent resignation <br /> and upon motion duly made and seconded it was voted: that Sgt. Robert Costa be <br /> compensated additionally an amount to reflect 9 vacation days leave for the <br /> period of the calender year 1976 for .which he has worked. <br /> The Board also noted that Sgt. Costa would be entitled to any increases <br /> forthcoming from the new police contract, when it became effective, for <br /> period of time he had worked from July 1, 1976 to his date of resignation. <br /> The Board then discussed the matter of Detective George Costa and it was again <br /> unanimously felt by the Board that something definitively must be done <br /> in order to speed up a conclusion to this matter. It was decided that Chief <br /> Bingham and Town Counsel would contact the Attorney General's office to <br /> request his assistance of expediting the matter before the County Retirement <br /> Appeal Board. <br />
