PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 8, 1982 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for the meeting: <br /> Robert Sullivan, Chairman, Caroline Gilligan, Curtis Woodbury, David Hardy <br /> and Manuel Glickman. <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Acceptance of Minutes <br /> A motion was made by Manuel Glickman to accept the minutes of November 1, 1982. <br /> David Hardy seconded the motion. All present were in favor. <br /> Grievance of Firefighter Lopez <br /> The Board reviewed a grievance of Firefighter Mark Lopez dated November 2, 1982 <br /> in which he claimed that he was discriminated against by the Department Head. . <br /> The Board felt that where the discrimination was regarding a comment made that <br /> it did not fall into the category of a grievance; however, agreed to advise Mark <br /> Lopez to follow the proper procedures in the contract by following Steps 1 and 2. <br /> The Board was also in agreement to waive the time limit on the grievance. The <br /> secretary was' asked to make the Selectmen aware of the grievance. <br /> • Vacation Agreement <br /> A copy of the agreement drawn up for signature by the Firefighters Association <br /> and the Police Association was received which related to the vacation clause in <br /> both contracts. Vacation. time will.be credited for the remainder of this fiscal <br /> year; however, fiscal year 1983/84, it will have to be earned before it is re- <br /> ceived. <br /> Highway Employee _ <br /> After review of the weekly attendance record, it was noted that Oliver Pocknett <br /> was out sick for one week after a one month vacation. Curtis Woodbury said that <br /> he heard that Mr. Pocknett had a heart attack. The .secretary was asked to contact <br /> the Street Superintendent to see when Mr. Pocknett first became ill and how long <br /> he will be out of work. <br /> Board Secretary <br /> The Public Works Committee is in need of a Board Secretary as their secretary, <br /> Helen Green, resigned. The Board authorized the posting and advertising for the <br /> position; however, Bob commented that we should be able to fill the position with <br /> someone already working for the town without going outside. <br /> Dog Officer Physical <br /> A physical report was received from the Falmouth Medical Associates on David Sharpe's <br /> physical and a copy was sent to the Selectmen for review. To date, no decision has <br /> been made to appoint Mr. Sharpe. <br /> • Finance Committee Meeting <br /> In a memo dated November 4, 1982, the Executive Secretary outlined what was discussed <br /> at the meeting of November 3 held by the Financial Managers of the Town regarding the <br /> budget guidelines for fiscal year 1983/84. Another meeting has been scheduled for <br /> November 17. <br />
