Personnel Board <br /> Minutes of October 18, 1982 Page 5 <br /> • Dave commented that he felt it would save the town money. <br /> Bob commented that he could not see why someone would want to work for $4 ,per hour <br /> especially when the volume picks up. <br /> Joe said that it is what the market will bear. If people are satisfactory, that is <br /> what the town will pay. If we are unable to maintain quality, we will have to make <br /> an adjustment. <br /> Curtis mentioned that it currently pays $4.89 plus time and a half. <br /> Manuel asked that they show what it costs for benefits and he suggested that there be <br /> a scale as an increase for incentive purposes. <br /> Chief Frye commented that if a person were covering both police and fire there might <br /> have to be an increase. <br /> Bob said that he felt there would be a problem with the money. <br /> Curtis asked if it would be the same rate for both day and night. <br /> Chief Frye replied "yes". <br /> Caroline mentioned that as an average citizen, she would go to the telephone book and <br /> that the public is not aware of the right number. <br /> • Curtis mentioned how Chief Willis went around to each of the homes in his area giving <br /> out information. <br /> Bob asked if the job description would cover it where they were talking about a com- <br /> munication center? <br /> Chief Frye said that the job description should cover it. <br /> Bob asked who would be the proper authority to report to? <br /> Chief Frye commented that they will have to cover that. <br /> Bob asked how many dispatchers they need at the police station? <br /> Chief Frye stated that he could do with three, but four would be a lot better. <br /> Chief Priestly said that it would be the same for him. <br /> Caroline asked how many would be needed on weekends? <br /> Chief Frye stated that he would need three. <br /> Chief Priestly commented that he was asking for coverage at night from 4 to midnight <br /> and then from midnight to 8 a.m. for seven days a week. <br /> • Manuel asked if they were talking about the two areas working together? <br /> Chief Priestly stated that it would be down the road. <br /> The Personnel Board was in agreement that there is a' need. A motion was made by Dave <br /> Hardy to accept the job description for Radio Dispatcher. Curtis Woodbury seconded the <br />
