PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> • MINUTES OF OCTOBER 41 1982 <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight's meeting: <br /> Robert Sullivan, Chairman, Caroline Gilligan, Curtis Woodbury and David Hardy. <br /> Manuel Glickman was also present at the meeting. <br /> Chairman Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Plaque for Senior Citizens Walking Center <br /> The Personnel Board discussed the inscription which they wanted to have on the <br /> plaque for the Senior Citizens Walking Center. Bob Sullivan asked the secretary <br /> to contact the newspaper advising them that the Personnel members have donated <br /> money for the walking center in the hopes that all other town Boards would follow <br /> their example. He also asked that Wendy be notified that the Personnel Board would <br /> like assurance that Station #1 be theirs and that if the walking course were to be <br /> discontinued for some unforeseen reason they would like to receive the plaque for <br /> their office. <br /> Salary Classification <br /> Bob brought in an article from the newspaper which the Town of Wareham submitted for <br /> the warrant at their town meeting which breaks down the salary classification for each <br /> employee on a step increment basis. He asked for a member of the Board to compare the <br /> salary being recommended in the Town of Wareham to the salary being paid to Mashpee em- <br /> ployees under the P.A.P. Dave Hardy and Manuel Glickman volunteered to do the compari- <br /> son. <br /> Acceptance of Minutes <br /> Curtis Woodbury made a motion to accept the Personnel Boards minutes of September 28, <br /> 1982 as read. Caroline Gilligan seconded the motion. All present were in favor. <br /> Meeting With Firefighters Association <br /> Sheldon Hamblin, Robert Long and Charles Stone from the Mashpee Permanent Firefighters <br /> Association met with the Personnel Board to discuss the change in the vacation policy <br /> whereby the Personnel Board voted to do away with past practice and follow the language <br /> of the contract. <br /> Charles Stone asked the Board for a definition of what the problem was and why it had <br /> come about that way. <br /> Robert Long explained that in the past if a man had a weeks vacation, he was able to <br /> take it if he chose to. Then the ruling came from the Personnel Board that you had to <br /> earn your vacation time before taking it. He stated that there was no advance notice <br /> and that it created inconveniences as people had vacations planned. <br /> Caroline told the members that they had agreed to the contract. <br /> Robert Long explained that the Chief sets the vacation policy. <br /> • Caroline said that the Chief had to go by the contract. <br /> Sheldon Hamblin said that in fiscal year 1979, 1980 and 1981 the policy had been the <br /> same.
