Personnel Board's <br /> Minutes of October 4, 1982 Page 4 <br /> • Meeting With Firefighters Association, cont. <br /> Manuel Glickman asked if the men work together when planning vacation time? <br /> Charles Stone replied that threeffien are working all the time and if one takes <br /> vacation time, they know that the person will not be around. If a call comes in, <br /> the men make an extra effort to go in and that they don't take the vacations at <br /> the same time as it would be hard on the department and you wouldn't want to see <br /> men get hurt. <br /> Dave replied that the Board did not want to cause a hardship. <br /> Robert Long replied that it has already. <br /> Curtis commented that there will be ten men at the top within a couple years and <br /> asked what happens to the Personnel Board when people ask for vacation? <br /> Charles Stone replied that the town could hire more men. <br /> Robert Long stated that::if the time were approved by the Chief there should not be <br /> any question on the part of the. Board. , <br /> Manuel Glickman commented that the Chief has to be concerned about adequate staff. <br /> Charles Stone replied that before the Chief approves it, he makes sure someone can <br /> work. <br /> Bob told the men from the Association that the Board would take everything into <br /> consideration and discuss it further. <br /> At this point, the men left the meeting. <br /> A vote was taken amongst the members of the Personnel Board in favor of granting an <br /> extension: David Hardy and Bob Sullivan were .in favor. Curtis Woodbury and Caroline <br /> Gilligan were opposed. . <br /> Mr. Glickman indicated that he would be in favor of granting the extension once ap- <br /> pointed to the Board. <br /> The Board agreed that they should get the Selectmen's feeling on granting an extension <br /> of time. <br /> Mass. Municipal Personnel Association - <br /> The Board received a statement for membership dues for the Mass. Municipal Personnel <br /> Association. Bob asked the secretary to call them to see if they do the breakdown of <br /> salary comparisons on the towns on the Cape. <br /> • Temporary Position <br /> The Superintendent of Streets informed the Personnel Board that Errol Hicks would be <br /> temporarily filling the position of Heavy Equipment Operator from October 4 through <br /> October 22 and that Horace Pocknett would be filling the position from October 25 <br /> through October 29 while Oliver Pocknett is on vacation. <br />
