MASHPEE TOWN HALL PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES • DECEMBER 13, 1982 The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight's meeting: Robert Sullivan, Chairperson, Caroline Gilligan, Curtis Woodbury, David Hardy and Manuel Glickman. Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 6:00 P.M. Update on the Position of Librarian In a memo dated December 6 and received in the Personnel Office on December 8, the Board was informed that the Library Trustees had scheduled the interviews for the Librarian position on December 9. The Personnel Board has been invited to attend and participate in the interviewing process; however, due to the late notification, the Board members were unable to make it. Curtis Woodbury made a motion to charge back the Library for the expenses incurred for the advertising as it was felt that the Personnel Board was used for only that reason. Caroline Gilligan seconded the motion. All Board members present were in favor. The secretary was asked to let the Selectmen know that the Personnel Board was not involved in the hiring process. Assistant Chairperson Caroline stated that she would like to step down from the Acting Chairperson position with the Personnel Board and made a motion for Curtis Woodbury to be,. • Acting Chairperson to cover in Bob's absence. Bob seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. Caroline agreed to remain Clerk of the Board. Call Firefighters In a letter dated December 9 from Chief Priestly, the Personnel Board was asked to give consideration to changing the policy of paying a call firefighter half and quarter hours which was set up under a previous administration and that it be changed to guarantee one hour's pay with the breakdown of half and quarter hours to take effect after the first hour. In taking into consideration that sometimes a call firefighter has to .respond in the middle of the night and under adverse weather conditions and the fact that his mileage is not reimbursed, Curtis Woodbury made a motion to pay a call firefighter for two hours when called in (the same amount of time that would be paid to a permanent firefighter if re- called to work) . Dave seconded the motion. All present were in agreement. Chief Priestly also made recommendations for the Board to review in regard to updating the job description for a call firefighter. The changes will be retyped into the job description for review of the Board. Letter from Doctor - re: Oliver Pocknett A letter dated November 29, 1982 from Dr. James. T. Reimer (received in the Personnel office on December 8) was reviewed regarding the health condition of Oliver Pocknett. In a phone conversation with the doctor's office, it was indicated that the doctor will keep the town updated as to Mr. Pocknett's progress. •
