Personnel Board Minutes
September 13, 1982 Page 2
• Appointments, cont. - -
Streets pending his physical, reference check and execution of an employment agree-
ment for a three-year contract.
Complimentary Letter
In a letter dated September 10, 1982, from Guy Peznola, he commended two of the
town's E.M.T.s, Sheldon Hamblin and Robert Long for their efficient and courteous
emergency medical treatment to his family. A copy of the letter will be put in
both their files and a letter will be sent to the men . as well as to the entire de-
partment with the appreciation of the Personnel Board.
Request of Richard Oakley
Upon a request made by the secretary at the Highway Department that Richard Oakley's
starting date be checked into, the Personnel Board. reviewed information from the file
of Mr. Oakley. They found that Mr. Oakley worked as a temporary part-time employee
from March of 1972 through July 1, 1974, at which time he was made permanent through
vote at town meeting. .It was the feeling of the Board that Mr. Oakley's starting
date should be July 1, 1974 as the records showed him being made permanent at that
time; therefore, they asked the secretary to send him a memo stating that he would
not be entitled to receive two days vacation until July 1984 as well as longevity pay.
Town Vehicles
In a memo dated September 10 regarding the use of -town vehicles, the Executive Secre-
tary explained to the Personnel Board the policy of the town; for instance, vehicles
• operated by the Highway Department personnel are being brought to employee's homes to
prevent the theft of parts and gasoline from the vehicles.
Articles for Special Town Meeting
A memo dated September 1 regarding submission of articles for the warrant was read
into the minutes. The Personnel Board requested that an article be submitted to pur-
chase fencing, spot lights and an alarm system for the purpose of preventing theft of
parts and gasoline from the Highway vehicles.
Appointment of Pest Control Warden
Bob Sullivan asked the secretary to find out how long George Ryan has been appointed
for by the town as Pest Control Warden.
Wire Inspector, Gas Ins ector Plumbing Inspector
P P 4 P
In an effort to study the salary of the employees falling under the P.A.P., the
secretary was asked by Bob Sullivan to look into the reason why the Wire and Gas
Inspectors are paid on a salary basis each month whether they have worked or not
and why the Plumbing Inspector is being paid on a percentage basis of the jobs worked.
The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Next scheduled meeting is September 20, 1982.
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Farren,
• Secretary to Personnel Board
mf
