PERSONNEL BOARD MEETING <br /> • MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> MINUTES OF AUGUST 30, 1982 <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for the meeting: Robert <br /> Sullivan, Chairman, Caroline Gilligan, Curtis Woodbury and David Hardy. <br /> Chairman Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Acceptance of Minutes <br /> Curtis Woodbury made a motion to accept the minutes of August 9 and August 16. Caroline <br /> Gilligan seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. <br /> Re-evaluation of Dog Officer Candidates <br /> In a memo dated August 26 from the Board of Selectmen, the Personnel Board was asked to <br /> re-evaluate candidates previously interviewed or interview candidates who were not in- <br /> terviewed for the position of Dog Officer/Natural Resource Officer. David Hardy made a <br /> motion to re-interview other candidates .for the position. Curtis Woodbury seconded the <br /> motion. Applications were reviewed and the Board asked the secretary to schedule inter- <br /> views for Wendy Servis, Martin Mcisaac and Leonard Niemi on Monday, September 13. <br /> Termination of Lifeguard <br /> In a letter dated August 27., Wendy Rubin advised the Board that Carl Perron, an employee <br /> of the Park & Recreation Department, was terminated as a result of a police report of <br /> unauthorized use of town vehicle, drinking alcohol beverage in vehicle and operator not <br /> • being properly licensed. The secretary informed the Board that she sent the proper paper- <br /> work to the town accountant notifying her of Mr. Perron's termination of employment. Bob <br /> suggested that a memo be sent to the Board of Selectmen regarding the use of town vehicles. <br /> Superintendent of Street Interviews <br /> Three candidates were interviewed for the position of Superintendent of Streets as follows: <br /> Ernest S. Virgilio, Thomas Bonome and William E. Detweiler. A fourth applicant, Alireza <br /> Khorasan, was chosen to be interviewed; however, could not keep the appointment. The <br /> Personnel Board unanimously voted to recommend to the Board of Selectmen that Mr. Virgilio <br /> be given first consideration, Mr. Detweiler be given second consideration and Mr. Bonome <br /> be given third consideration. <br /> Board Secretary Interviews <br /> Two candidates were interviewed. for the position of Board Secretary to the Charter Com- <br /> mission as follows: Amelia Mosley and Anne McGee. Typing tests were conducted. The <br /> Personnel Board unanimously voted to recommend Anne .McGee for the position. <br /> Part-Time Clerical Help <br /> A request to hire Amelia Mosley as "a temporary part-time typist at the Recreation Depart- <br /> ment was reviewed. The Board unanimously voted to recommend that Mrs. Mosley be hired <br /> to fill the position. She will be working two days_ a week, five hours each day starting <br /> September 13. <br /> Grievance of Jeffrey Tavares <br /> The Personnel Board reviewed a grievance filed by Jeffrey Tavares dated August 7 with <br /> • reference being made to a change in vacation policy. The Board was in unanimous agree- <br /> ment that the proper filing procedure of a grievance was not followed as per Article 6, <br /> Employee Grievance Procedures of the Firefighters Contract as Mr. Tavares' letter dated <br /> August 7 was not received by this office until August 24. The Board was also in agree- <br /> ment in maintaining the language of the contract under Article 10, Vacations. <br />
