PERSONNEL BOARD _ <br /> MINUTES OF AUGUST 7 , 1989 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight ' s <br /> meeting : Chairman Robert W. Sullivan , C . Ben Lofchie , Leo Turo and Jane <br /> Stockbridge . <br /> Chairman Sullivan. convened the meeting promptly at 6 :00 p .m . <br /> Personnel Board Minutes <br /> C . Ben Lofchie moved to accept the Personnel Board minutes of July 31 . <br /> Jane Stockbridge asked that acorrection be made on page 2o the minutes <br /> under the section entitled Memo from Library Trustees . Mrs . Stockbridge <br /> asked that the minutes read that she met with Mrs . Roberts , Chairman of <br /> the Library Trustees , and will meet with the Trustees . <br /> C . Ben Lofchie moved that the minutes be approved with the correction . <br /> Jane Stockbridge seconded . All in favor . <br /> George Costa - Board of Health <br /> George Costa , Chairman of the Board of Health met with the Personnel Board <br /> regarding increasing the hours of the temporary part-time help in the Bd . <br /> of Health office . Mr . Costa explained to the Board that they have con- <br /> tracted with a company called Sea Mass which compiles a list for the Board <br /> of Health to bill private contractors . He told the Board that they charge <br /> $2 a ton extra for man power services. <br /> George Costa explained that Mr . & Mrs . Greelish made up a program to re- <br /> lieve the agents of this . extra workload and that they would like to util- <br /> ize the services of Denise Sullivan and change her position from 18 hours <br /> weekly to 35 hours weekly . - <br /> Chairman Costa said that they do not have the funding at the present time ; <br /> however , they will be meeting with the Finance Committee and wants the <br /> blessing of the Personnel Board . <br /> In addition to the above , they will also be requiring the full-time person <br /> to change th.ousands 'of files to add house numbers explaining that the <br /> Board of Health has to change every single file . <br /> Chairman Costa explained that he .sent a memo to the Interim Executive <br /> Secretary requesting permission to. obtain' a person for a ten-week period <br /> with the intention of taking the funds from the' Board of Health expense <br /> account and the Building Department expense account . The Executive Secre- <br /> tary advised him that he did not feel he could do this . <br /> Chairman Sullivan suggested that there be some follow-up with Town Counsel <br /> and that the Board will go with whatever is legal . <br /> Chairman Costa told the Board that they submitted two articles for Town <br /> Meeting ; however , they would only keep one in for the 35 hour position and <br /> withdraw the other for the part-time position,, if the support was there . <br /> Ben Lofchie commented that the Selectmen should have supported five depart- <br /> ments which are understaffed , but , instead the Selectmen went out in favor <br /> of survey . <br />
