Personnel Board Minutes <br /> Meeting of Novembert27 , 1989 Page 2 <br /> The other memo that the Board requested to be sent to the Board of Select- <br /> men dealt with notifying department heads to submit copies of articles to <br /> the Personnel Board when intending to increase their personnel . This <br /> directly effects the Personnel budget in regards to physicals , etc . <br /> With regard to the Education Account , and attempting to comply with a cut <br /> of 5% for this fiscal year , the Board felt that they could reduce the <br /> education account ( P . A .P . portion only ) by $125 . As far as the Board ' s <br /> Expense Account , the Board feels that they cannot reduce it this fiscal <br /> year because of unforseen physicals of personnel . <br /> Re-C_ ap_ on Meeting W/Selectman Ha_ nson_ , Sel . Carter <br /> The Personnel Assiatant advised the Board thatshe met with Selectman <br /> Hanson , Selectman Carter , Jeff Nutting , Joyce Mason , Chief Ridgeway and <br /> Ben Lofchie to discuss a few pressing issues . One issue had to do with <br /> advertising of town positions . In a most recent incident , the help- <br /> wanted advertisement for the Administrative Secretary to the Fire Chief . <br /> did not run in the newspaper as requested . Neither the Personnel - Assis- <br /> tant nor the Fire Chief were advised by the Interim Executive Secretary, or <br /> Joyce Mason of their decision to decrease the length of time the ad was to <br /> run . Chief Ridgeway was most concerned over the fact that the Paramedic <br /> advertisement did not run either as requested . Selectman Hanson requested <br /> that all the advertising be handled by the Personnel Assistant in the <br /> future . Joyce Mason concurred that it would be best if the Personnel Asst . <br /> handled the help-wanted advertising stating that she could not keep track <br /> of ads making the newspaper . <br /> The other issue on the agenda to be discussed was the .Personnel Assistant ' s <br /> job duties . Selectman Carter advised the assistant that he would meet with <br /> her to go over the job description and duties . Manny Glickman requested <br /> that the whole Board- be present at the time of discussion . <br /> Interviewing_ for_ Fire Depts . ' _ Administrative Secretary <br /> - -- - - - - - - - - - - - _ t.,--- - - - <br /> The PersonnelAssistant advised the Board that Chief Ridgeway requested to <br /> have the Personnel Board liaison present when interviewing for. the Adminis- <br /> trative Assistant position . The Board suggested that Leo Turo be contacted <br /> to see if he is available . <br /> Concerns of Interviewing Process <br /> Board mem bersdisouss,ed their concerns over the interviewing process comment- <br /> ing that there would be no consistency in the process in the line of ques- <br /> tions . Other concerns. were that applications were being taken out of the <br /> department .
