Personnel Board <br /> Meeting of September 24 , 1990 Page 2 <br /> Position Classification Study , cont . <br /> Manny Glickman asked if it was a Personnel Board project? Jane commented <br /> that she was assuming that we were all doing this project . <br /> Jane continued to say that in looking at the descriptions , we need a more <br /> standardized form . She said that she was planning to come up with a for- <br /> mat that will take care of all items in the rating manual. <br /> Ben asked Jane if she was .qualified? Bob commented that Jane has done it <br /> before . He said that the position questionnaire form Jane is using is from <br /> the M . M. A . The employee will pinpoint things on what is missing from the <br /> job description and items will be added . <br /> Jane commented that sometimes- she would have to speak to the people them- <br /> selves for clarification . She would ask questions ; such as , "How does this <br /> differ? " She said that there have been about eight requests for re-evalua- <br /> tion . <br /> Manny asked why Kevin Harrington did not tell the Board what he wanted? Bob <br /> replied that Jane volunteered and talked with Kevin about doing the job <br /> descriptions . Bob said that he asked if it was a Personnel Board function <br /> and asked if she would take something before the Board . Jane had told Bob <br /> that the Board would make corrections . <br /> Jane Stockbridge commented that if the Town had a consultant come in , it <br /> would be, very costly . She said that this was. her job and that she knows how <br /> it can be done . <br /> Manny commented that the Board is .being deprived of its potential . Eventu- <br /> ally , there willCnot be a Personnel Boar d . Everyone will -be working under <br /> Kevin or as a group . -Personnel' .Board un�ity, would' be broken up . ' <br /> Jane replied that it will be a long. study . She said that she hoped to have <br /> . all the ratings in and her recommendations ,by , February . . . <br /> Bob commented that he does ' not' feel threatned . They have not changed the <br /> P .A .P . They are working things out to be better for the town . Kevin wants <br /> things to be channeled through hi ' . Kevin asked for a volunteer program <br /> and Jane volunteered . <br /> Ben commented that the point is that before anything was done , it was not <br /> discussed at a Personnel Board. meeting . . Bob said that is the reason for <br /> tonight ' s discussion . <br /> Manny commented that the Board ' s functions and purposes are gradually being <br /> separated . Anything being requested should be put on the agenda . <br /> Bob commented that Jane is -a member of the Personnel Board and that Kevin said <br /> it would be through the Personnel Board . He said that he expects it will have <br /> a. lot of publicity . It is all personnel work . <br /> Fire Examination Process <br /> The Personnel Assistant advised the Board that the oral interviews of the <br /> fire examination process io scheduled for September 25 , Tuesday , and <br /> September 26 , Wednesday evenings . Leo Turo is the liaison to that department . <br /> Chief Ridgeway has set up a panel and would like the liaison from Personnel <br /> present . <br />
