Personnel Board Minutes of April 2 , 1990 Page 4 Police Examination Process Chairman Sullivan advised the Board that the entry-level special police .officer examination had been administered on Saturday , March 31 , with the assistance of Leo Turo , Jane Stockbridge and Marilyn Farren . Chair- man Sullivan thanked all who helped out . He said that eighty-one appli- cants showed up and the test went well . Memo from Executive Secretary re : Monthly Reports The Board reviewed a memo from the Executive Secretary , Kevin Harrington , dated March 20 stating that he expects to receive monthly reports from Department Heads indicating activities completed for that reporting period as well as activities planned for the following month . Policy for Adoption re : Matters Coming Before Personnel Bd . The. Board reviewed a draft of a policy for adoption by the Personnel Board as follows : "All oral or written communication by employees or board mem- bers concerning action taken or future action to be addressed by the Per- sonnel Board must go directly ( time permitting ) to the Board ' s agendaor the regular meeting date . " Chairman Sullivan , who submitted the draft , said that if there are any problems , they will be put on the agenda . Ben Lofchie moved to accept the policy . Leo Turo seconded. All in favor . Manny Glickman asked that the Board consider a. policy for good and welfare discussion after the meetings . All . seemed to be in agreement . Request of Jane Labute re : hiring of permit sales employees The Board addressed the verbal question by Jane Labute relative to the hiring of permit sales employees by contract. The Board took the position that they must interview as the -P _A .P . calls for them to do this and the position does fall under the plan . Leo Turo commented that the applicants must be screened as they will be around money .. Memo from Chief Frye re : Appointment of Police Officer The Board reviewed a memo .from Chief Frye dated April 2 .recommending that John Santangello be appointed to a full-time policeofficer position . John has been working for the Town as a Special Police of since Feb . , 1989 . The Board asked that a memo be sent to the Board of Selectmen stating that .the Board will go along with the recommendations .of Chief Frye to appoint John Santangello as a full-time police officer . .
