Ben Lofchie commented <br /> that Pam Davis saves this town because of her knowledge :(; Jane said that <br /> we all are for giving the employees as much as we can . <br /> After more discussion , Leo Turo moved that we support the sixth step and <br /> that any additions or deletions relative to cost of living will be con- <br /> sidered in the awards of, future negotiations with the unions . Manny <br /> Glickman said that the same things will happen next year . Ben Lofchie <br /> seconded the motion . Leo said that he is in favor of a sixth step plus <br /> 2 % cost of living . Chairman Sullivan said that he is willing to go along <br /> with Kevin ' s recommendations of a sixth step , then add cost of living <br /> to the top of the steps . <br /> Ben Lofchie commented that 2 % was slotted in theFinanceCommittee ' s <br /> budget for all employees . He said that he is against removing 2 % . <br /> Foiur ,members were in. favor `of.;-add ng.:;a' si�x'th s,te,p.,;wit'h� �a contingency . <br /> Ben Lofchie abstained . - <br /> _Re_quest from Chairman of Board of Health re : Increase for Agent and Asst . <br /> Health Agent <br /> The Board reviewed a verbal request from George Costa as to recommendations <br /> of what they could do to get an increase for their Health Agent and Asst . <br /> Health Agent (both employees are at their maximum step_, . The Board sug- <br /> gestedsending the Chairman of the Board of Health a letter telling them <br /> how the Personnel Board is planning to handle the situation . <br /> Letter from Department of Revenue <br /> The Board reviewed a copy of a letter dated March 15 from the Department <br /> of Revenue relative to our request whether the Board of Selectmen may <br /> enter into certain personal service contracts . Chairman Sullivan advised <br /> the Board that he requested a ruling from Town Counsel on which Town of <br /> Mashpee positions can .have special service contracts. Town Counsel , in <br /> turn , sent the Board a letter dated March 27 asking for their advice as <br /> to any particular positions which appear to be of concern to the Personnel <br /> Board . He also requested a copy of the Board ' s original letter sent to <br /> the Department of Revenue . <br /> The Board asked that .Town Counsel be sent a letter stating- that the Board <br /> would like to have a ruling from him relative to which town positions, <br /> besides the Executive Secretary and Librarian , can have special service <br /> contracts and under what section of the general laws that it is allowed . <br /> Adoption of Police Department Recruitment Regulation vs . Police Department <br /> Recruitment Policy <br /> Chairman Sullivan advised the Board that he and the Assistant met with <br /> Kevin Harrington and Chief Frye relative to a request being made to the <br /> Board of Selectmen asking them to adopt thePolice Department Recruitment j <br /> Regulation . <br /> It was pointed out that the Selectmen already adopted the Police Department <br /> Recruitment Policy At their meeting in December and clarification was made <br /> as to why they now needed a regulation . Chairman Sullivan said that he <br /> told Kevin that the policy was developed because of a list and that they <br /> should not plan on doing anything different than what they have established . <br /> It was made very clear that we are all working in cooperation and that <br /> any changes in the policy or regulation, should be discussed between the <br /> two departments . <br />
