IPersonnel Board Minutes <br /> Meeting of February 12 , 1990 Page 2 <br /> Article Review , cont . <br /> t at she would be willing to adjust her hours from July through December <br /> from 37� hours weekly to 35 hours so that there would be enough money in <br /> the budget to change the weekly hours to 40 hrs . in January . Note : The <br /> Personnel Budget is worked up on 371� hours weekly for the Personnel Assis- <br /> tant as currently appro"ved. by, Town Meeting . <br /> The Board briefly discussed the fact that' they had been given the opportun- <br /> ity to review the upgrade of some P . A . P . positions with the exception of the <br /> upgrade of the Administrative .Assistant ( a P .A .P . position ) . This upgrade - <br /> was recommended in the Selectmen ' s budget ; however , should follow the same <br /> process as other requests . The Board said that they would discuss this with <br /> Kevin Harrington when he attended their meeting on February 26 . <br /> Upon review of Joyce Mason ' s personal service contract , Chairman Sullivan ad- <br /> vised the Board that the contract of the Administrative Assistant will end <br /> on February 13 , which is thirty days after the new Executive Secretary com- <br /> menced on the payroll . <br /> Town Report <br /> Board members were given a copy of the Town Report submitted to the Board of <br /> Selectmen . Chairman Sullivan advised the Board that he worked up a good por- <br /> tion of the report with help from the Personnel Assistant . He commented that <br /> he tried to center on public relations . Leo Turo moved to accept the town <br /> report as submitted . Jane Stockbridge seconded . All in favor . <br /> Secretarial Absence <br /> The Board reviewed a memo dated February 9 from E . S . Virgilio , Director of <br /> the D . P . W. requesting temporary help of Mary Coomey while his secretary Nancy <br /> Cannata is away on vacation during the period of March 8 through March 20 . <br /> The Board pointed out that the Town may have to pay time and one half to this <br /> employee where she currently works 8 hours weekly for the Harbormaster assum- <br /> ing the request is for 37� additional hours . The Board had no objection with <br /> Mary Coomey working as a temporary employee for this period of time provided <br /> that there are monies in the budget . <br /> An additional request to have Mary Coomey work periodically during the Spring <br /> and Summer months at- the D .P . W . was considered by the Board . Ben Lofchie <br /> asked the Personnel Assistant to check into where the monies would come from . <br /> Personnel Procedures <br /> The Board was advised that Chairman Sullivan sent the Executive Secretary a <br /> memo asking him to direct employees to the Personnel Board with their re- <br /> quests prior to getting the Executive Secretary ' s approval on Personnel mat- <br /> ters . The Board was apprised of a situation where the Town Accountant had <br /> received the approval of the Executive Secretary for her and the Assistant <br /> Town. Accountant to attend a six-week computer seminar in Marlborough to learn <br /> UMAS , the municipal accounting system . The cost of this seminar would amount <br /> to $800 and would be paid o_uitof the Education Account . Ben Lofchie asked <br /> that a memo be sent out to remind people that their request for tuition reim- <br /> bursement must receive Personnel approval prior to enrolling in a course . <br />
