r \� <br /> PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 16, 1991 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight ' s <br /> meeting : Chairman Robert Sullivan, C. Ben Lofchie and Leo Turo. <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 6 : 05 p . m . <br /> Update of D. P.W. Director' s Position <br /> Ben Lofchie, liaison to the Department of Public Works, advised the Board <br /> that he attended the Board of Selectmen ' s meeting on September 11 in <br /> follow up to the Personnel Board ' s recommendation for a D. P.W. Director. <br /> The Selectmen voted unanimously to appoint R. Gregory Taylor as the <br /> Director of Public Works ( as recommended by the Personnel Board ) . Note : <br /> A pre-employment physical will be scheduled with the town ' s physician . <br /> Mr. Taylor will commence work on September 26 . <br /> Update of Firefighter' s Examination Process <br /> Chairman Sullivan advised the Board that the entry- level firefighter ' s <br /> examination was administered to thirty-three candidates on September 7 <br /> with the help of the Personnel Assistant, the Deputy Fire Chief and the <br /> Fire Department ' s Administrative Secretary . Those candidates which passed <br /> the written portion of the testing process went on to be tested for <br /> physical agility, a mile and a half run and swimming . <br /> Leo Turo advised the Board, that. as liaison to the Fire Department, he sat <br /> with an interviewing panel on September 9 to interview the eighteen <br /> candidates that passed the whole testing process held on Saturday, Sept . 7 . <br /> The Personnel Assistant was also present . The panel consisted of Fire <br /> Lieutenant Costello, Firefighter Healy, a Paramedic from the Town of <br /> Falmouth, Alden Cook, as well as Leo Turo . Leo mentioned that the inter- <br /> viewing process went smoothly and out of eighteen candidates interviewed, <br /> three or four were rated outstanding; one candidate is a Paramedic ( which <br /> the department greatly needs ! ) . <br /> An eligibility list is to be established which will remain in effect for <br /> two years from the date of establishment . Background checks will be <br /> conducted and a second interview will be granted by the Fire Chief to <br /> those candidates listed in the outstanding category. <br /> Update of Senior Clerk Positon <br /> Chairman Sullivan advised the Board that as liaison, he sat with an inter- <br /> viewing panel on September 10 which consisted of the Director of Assess- <br /> ing, the Assistant Assessor, the Chairman of the Board of Assessors and <br /> himself. They interviewed candidates for the full -time position of Senior <br /> Clerk for the Assessing Department . After the interviews, the panel <br /> narrowed down the selection process to Karen Schuster, Marilyn Mungo and <br /> Denise Sullivan . The interviewing panel was in favor of recommending <br /> Karen Schuster as their first choice . <br /> Chairman Sullivan indicated that he would have chosen someone else for his <br /> second choice; however, he agreed with the interviewing panel to recommend <br /> Marilyn Mungo, second; and Denise Sullivan, third . <br />
