PASONNEL BOARD MINUTES <br /> MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 16, 1991 PAGE 2 <br /> Ben Lofchie motioned that the three candidates be accepted by the Personnel <br /> Board as recommended to the Board of Assessors . Leo Turo seconded the <br /> motion . All in favor . <br /> Vacancy on Personnel Board <br /> The Board met with four candidates interested in serving on the Personnel <br /> Board : Mary Clancy, Rita Sousa, Ed Nickerson and Donna Lopez . Each <br /> person was asked to outline their background as it related to personnel . <br /> Board members discussed the duties of a Personnel Board member. Chairman <br /> Sullivan mentioned that there were special assignments given to the Board <br /> by the Board of Selectmen/Executive Secretary such as the reclassification <br /> study, establishing a volunteer program, etc . Chairman Sullivan also <br /> advised each candidate that the Board is involved with interviewing and <br /> administering examinations . <br /> Mary Clancy is currently working as a full-time secretary for Blue Cross <br /> handling payroll , upgrades, interviewing, tracking records for 150 <br /> employees and communications . Mary was the secretary for Mashpee ' s <br /> Library Building Committee and Historical Commission . She had moved out <br /> of town and now is back living in the community. Mary also previously <br /> worked for Carter ' s law firm <br /> Rita Sousa worked for a California electronics company which is a <br /> subsidiary for TRW. She comes with ten years of experience as a Human <br /> Relations/Resources manager. Rita handled wages over $100, 000 and was <br /> involved in bonus programs for executives, ran management training <br /> sessions and performance management systems . Mrs . Sousa moved to Mashpee <br /> about a year ago and is looking to get involved in the community. <br /> Ed Nickerson is currently with the Mashpee Housing Authority. He was <br /> previously with the Beach Committee in which they were involved in hiring <br /> a new Superintendent . He had heard about the opening on the Personnel <br /> Board and would be willing to serve if needed . <br /> Donna Lopez is currently a Paramedic for the Town of Wareham. She lives <br /> in Mashpee and would like to be more involved in the community. She is <br /> interested in people and feels that she could contribute something to the <br /> community . <br /> After meeting the candidates, Ben Lofchie motioned to recommend Rita Sousa <br /> to the Board of Selectmen. Leo Turo seconded the motion . All in favor. <br /> Board members asked that all candidates letters be kept on file in the <br /> event of future openings . <br /> Memo from Board of Appeals Chairman <br /> The Board reviewed a request from Chairman Hanrahan of the Board of <br /> Appelas relative to granting his part-time secretary, Elinor Walsh, <br /> vacation and sick leave benefits provided to non-standard employees . He <br /> pointed out in his memo that Elinor consistently works a regular schedule <br /> of nineteen hours as a Board Secretary. Chairman Hanrahan also mentioned <br /> that it was expected that his secretary ' s job would be reclassified; <br /> however, attempts to reclassify the job failed at Town Meeting . <br />
