MASHPEE PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF OCTOBER 21 , 1991 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Mashpee Personnel Board were present for <br /> tonight ' s meeting : Chairman Robert W. Sullivan, C. Ben Lofchie, Leo Turo, <br /> Jane Stockbridge and Rita Sousa. <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 6 : 00 p . m . <br /> The first order of business was to welcome the Board ' s newest member, <br /> Rita Sousa ! <br /> Personnel Minutes of September 16 <br /> Ben Lofchie moved to accept the Personnel Board minutes of September 16 as <br /> written. Leo Turo seconded the motion. All in favor. <br /> Request to Extend Vacation Benefits <br /> The Board reviewed a memo dated September 20 from the Executive Secretary <br /> regarding a request from Greg Taylor dated September 17 asking for two <br /> years of service credited toward the town ' s vacation policy which would <br /> entitle him to earn twelve vacation days during the first year of service <br /> and eighteen days at the end of the second year. <br /> Ben Lofchie commented that there have been other employees who have been <br /> hired who have past work experience and have not requested their vacation <br /> time to be changed . Ben commented that it would start a precedent . <br /> Rita Sousa recalled a similar situation in her company where a high level <br /> individual was hired who had the background which was hard to find . <br /> Bob Sullivan commented that Greg Taylor has a Civil Engineering Degree with <br /> many years of experience . <br /> After some additional discussion, Ben Lofchie moved to send a memo asking <br /> if Greg Taylor would accept twelve days during the first year and then <br /> follow the guidelines of the Personnel Administration Plan during the <br /> second year and each year thereafter. Leo Turo seconded the motion. Rita <br /> Sousa commented that this is because of budget considerations . All in <br /> favor. <br /> Interviews - Custodian/Mechanic Position <br /> The Personnel Board, along with the assistance of Police Chief Frye <br /> conducted interviews for the full-time union position of Custodian/Mechanic . <br /> ( This position vacancy occurred due to the retirement of Ray Hall ) . <br /> Candidates interviewed were : James Gallanat, Ron Olson, Wilton Brierly, <br /> Robert Sethares, Seaman Turner, II, and James Gammon. <br /> Each candidate was given an opportunity to review the job description . <br /> Chairman Sullivan reviewed the hours of the position, the rate of pay and <br /> the pay differential with each applicant . Board members reviewed the <br /> employment backgrounds of each candidate as it related to the position . <br /> Chief Frye advised the applicants of what the day-to-day job duties entail . <br />
