PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES
MEETING OF OCTOBER 21 , 1991 PAGE 3
Ben Lofchie asked that a letter be sent to the Board of Selectmen asking
for an opportunity to explain Jane Stockbridge ' s report . He said that it
is vitally important for this to be considered with budget time coming down
the road . All Board members were in agreement .
Schedule Hearing for P. A . P. Update
The Board scheduled a date for hearing changes for the Personnel
Administration Plan on November 4 . This is in follow up to a memo asking
employees whose positions are classified under the Town ' s Personnel
Administration Plan to give the Personnel Board input for updating the Plan.
The only input the Board received from employees was from Amy Mosley asking
the Board to update the longevity clause to bring it in line with the
Clerical Union Contract .
Change of Meetina Date
Jane Stockbridge discussed a possible change in the Board ' s meeting night .
She said that we are running into times when we have had holidays fall on
the third Monday. She presented a schedule showing a breakdown of Monday
holidays for the first, second, third and fourth Monday .
After review of the schedule, Leo Turo motioned to change the Board ' s
meeting night to the second Monday of each month. Jane Stockbridge
seconded the motion. All in favor. This will go into effect in December .
Interview Rating Form
In follow-up to a request by a few Board members to review the interview
rating form, the Board discussed revision of the form.
Rita Sousa commented that these forms become a matter of record which are
written justification for not hiring someone as well as for hiring someone .
She said that it has to withstand scrutiny. All questions should be very
objective and related to the job (B.F.O. Q. ) . She commented that she would
be nervous about a rating form that included personality and appearance .
Rita was asked by Ben Lofchie if she would be willing to review the form
and come in with some recommendations . Rita agreed .
Role of Personnel Board
In light of the current investigation by the Inspector General ' s office,
Leo Turo expressed concern about setting up a procedure to keep a log of
everything being requested . Board members were in agreement .
Liaison Sheet
Chairman Sullivan passed out an updated liaison sheet to Board members with
the addition of our new Board member. Rita said that she would stop in the
office to find out what a Board liaison does .
Meeting adjourned at 9 : 05 p . m .
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Farren
Personnel Assistant
