TAXPAYER'S LETTER TO SCHOOL COMMITTEE - copies <br />We received a letter from the Mashpee Taxpayers's Association that <br />was sent to the School Department as well as the High School Building <br />Committee. This letter indicated that it supported a recommendation of <br />having the Leisure Service Department be responsible for overseeing and <br />scheduling the New High School building, after normal school hours. <br />C. REPORT'S <br />A. Old Business - <br />1. High School Building Committee update <br />a) Space requirements <br />Discussion revolved around whether or not the Leisure Service <br />Department should have its main office in either the Town Hall, in the New <br />High School, or both, when built. After some discussion, a call for a vote was <br />made. <br />("Maureen Paxton requested a motion - a motion was made by <br />Linda Young "to operate the main office of the Leisure Service Department at <br />Town Hall, and operate a satelite office at the New High School when built <br />with approximately 400 square feet of space". seconded by Elisa Meunier. Vote <br />was carried unanimously.) <br />b) Community use facilities <br />Discussion centered around physical facilities for community use. A <br />short report was given indicating the following <br />1. POOL - presently the concept of the pool is not within the <br />designated space requirements of the Educational Curricula. The building <br />committee is presently working with a building that is within 176,000 to <br />183,000 sq. ft.. The pool would be another 7-9,000 sq/ft. The maximum sq/ft <br />that the state would reimburse at 58% - is 183,000. With this in mind, the <br />pool would not be reimbursable, and construction costs would be at 100% to <br />the Town. The architects are still working on a design of the pool. The present <br />
