with some of the local towns such as Barnstable, Sandwich, etc. to discuss Teen <br />Centers. Gus will put on a workshop on skate boarding. <br />3. High School building Usage - Gus mentioned having preliminary discussion on <br />finalizing use of the school and procedures for scheduling. Nick Feldman <br />mentioned that a private custodial staff will be servicing the high school. <br />Nick Feldman would like to see some programs more carefully designed. Perhaps <br />work on this over the summer. Even if we had to pay teacher salaries to make it <br />work. Perhaps we need to charge a little more for the kids. Nick suggested <br />offering science, math, journalism. Perhaps a family math class or a family <br />science night would be something to run. College Gate is not being offered this <br />summer. We may need to offer a couple of free classes. Gus mentioned that <br />perhaps we need to earmark certain classes to run free. Gus would like to do more <br />with disabled children. He also would like to be able to run the ropes program. Pat <br />Riley suggested trying to establish a local College Gate Program. Summer institute <br />is being run and summer school remedial classes. Nick discussed a 3 -week <br />program costing $200.00. He felt this type of program would attract teachers. <br />Maybe we could start on a small scale. Other suggestions were music lessons, Mike <br />Persico band camp - Grades K-3 and 4 - 6. We could run two 3 -week sessions and <br />alternate teachers. <br />Updates <br />1. Computerized Recreation Registrations - Gus would like to set up another <br />meeting - Thursday, February 15th, at 5:30 at the Town Hall. Reminders will be <br />sent out to Pat Riley, Shiela Arnold, and Ron Roberts. <br />2. Rec Plan - Maureen Panton discussed going over Rec Plan. Maureen and Kim <br />will go through the plan. Gus Frederick mentioned that Perry Ellis received a <br />copy, and he will go over sections pertaining to him. Mashpee is one of the few <br />towns that does not have its own town Marina. <br />3. Cape Cod Neighborhood Support - The next meeting will be February 7. <br />4. Together We Can - Meeting was held last week. Additional check of $1,250 for <br />Grant of this year. We received $2,500.00 initially. Putting together some <br />parenting skills training. <br />B. NEW BUSINESS - <br />1. Maureen Paxton introduced Shiela Arnold as a new member of Leisure Services <br />Advisory Council. Shiela still needs to be sworn in and will see Jane Labute this <br />week. <br />V. OTHER BUSINESS - Maureen Paxton discussed starting Friends of Leisure Services. <br />Procedures for this are being looked at. <br />
