LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OCTOBER 1, 1996 <br />MASHPEE MIDDLE SCHOOL <br />Present: Absent: Also Present: <br />Sheila Arnold Ken Marsters Gus Frederick <br />Kim Whitney <br />Linda Young <br />Terrie Cook <br />Pat Riley <br />Opening of Meeting - Sheila Arnold opened the meeting at 6:35 PM. <br />II. Minutes - Pat Riley made motion to approve the Minutes of the Meeting of <br />August 12, 1996. Kim Whitney seconded. Motion carried. <br />III. Communications - <br />(1) Gus mentioned the Capital F/Y `98 budget process is starting. Capital request <br />for Town department heads- anything over $10,000 for purchase of land, building or <br />equipment and a lifespan of 3 years or longer. (1) $20,000 for vehicle for <br />department and <br />(2) $350,000 for expansion of Rec Building. During the summer we put in for <br />EOCD Grant for that amount There is a good chance of getting this funded. Gus <br />said that he would still put that through the Capital Improvement Plan for coming <br />year. <br />Gus is also looking at the possibility of putting structures at beaches to help with <br />storage, bathroom, etc. We get a lot of complaints regarding portable bathrooms. <br />They are knocked over almost every day. <br />A discussion took place on the various structures used for permanent structures <br />We would like to put ideas and prices together for a structure that could best meet <br />Conservation Commission Guidlines. <br />(2) Received Office for Children Paperwork_ We are trying to run the After -School <br />Program and the Before School Program at two sites. At present we are running <br />our program at K. C. Coombs but are trying to get licensed for Middle School also. <br />Now with the High School opening, we will have semi-permanent rooms available <br />to use. <br />IV. Old Business <br />1. Mashpee High School Usage - Gus went over copy of a memo to Mr. <br />Whritenour stating October 15th Leisure Services will accept and process facility <br />requests. Gus showed schedule calendar which has been set up for each <br />individual school. <br />Gus mentioned that Betty Jones is working Tuesday and Thursday, and Gloria <br />Dube is working Monday and Wednesday. Gloria is being paid by our revolving <br />account. She will be coordinating most of the scheduling. <br />2. Rec Plan - Kim Whitney passed out Rec Plan update, and a brief discussion <br />took place. Kim hopes that the report will be finished by next meeting. <br />
