Rec Plan - This item was taken out of context. Gu' put a short movie on Park
and Rec in the VCR for viewing. This movie showed the benefits and advantages of a
Park and Rec department. Maureen Paxton passed out a sheet to be filled out - the
"Benefits Approach" to Park and Rec. A discussion took place on the benefits of Park and
Rec and a few things that could be included in the Rec Plan. Kim Whitney passed out
sheets on the Rec Plan to be read over and corrected.
Gus said that he would like to revisit where the department is going - new
responsibilities, new facilities. Rec Plan is being done to define who we are and what we
are. Each year this plan should be revisited. Gus mentioned the Policy Book that we have
in the office. This includes such policies as the Agreement with the school. Gus thanked
everyone on the Advisory Council for their help this past year.
Terrie Cook had a question regarding the Flow Chart Gus said that there are job
descriptions for each position. A discussion took place on roles of DPW.
1. Use of Facilities - Gus feels we need to look at a couple of different areas. We
now have a Building Supervisor. We need to go over roles and responsibilities of Leisure
Services. Such as who is responsible when no Leisure Services activities are taking place
in the building, outside the building. Terrie Cook questioned the Supervisor for Friday
Night Sports. She is concerned that the appropriate age level is using the program. Gus
went over some of the problems that occur with having supervision on Friday nights. Our
new Building Supervisor will be helping out on Friday Nights. Gus needs to talk about
some areas of the Agreement that need to be addressed. Gus went over the need to have
information flow properly. He feels Facility Request Form needs to be redone. A policy
page should be added. Cost on weekend usage was discussed.
2. Capital Budget - Turned down on our department requests.
3.
