Youth Commission
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
Youth Commission
Minutes
July 26, 1994
Members Present: Members Absent:
Josephine Granucci Louis Farwell
Gordon Harris Cathy West
June Forni Marita Scott
Deborah Dami
Also Present:
Gus Frederick, Leisure Services Director
The meeting was convened at 6:25 p.m.
The minutes of June 28, 1994 were read and accepted.
Lifeguards: Discussion tool place on the continuing issue of lifeguards and
their responsibilities, including the drinking on the beaches by private
citizens. Lifeguards feel that the children are left unsupervised on the
beaches for too long. It was suggested that perhaps DSS needs to hold a
training program to teach the lifeguards to deal various types of situations,
i.e. abused children.
Latch-Key Program: The program, which is currently located at the K.C.
Coombs School during the school year, is at maximum capacity with 26
r children. There is currently a waiting list. The summer program holds 25
children.
Mr. Lew Farwell: Mr. Farwell indicated to Mr. Frederick that would be
submitting a letter of resignation. Since the Committee has not received
Mr. Farwell's resignation and since Mr. Farwell has not only not been sworn
in but also has not attend one meeting, the Committee voted to send a
memo to the Board of Selectmen to accept the verbal resignation of Mr.
Farwell.
