2> KIDS SRFE SUMMER Gus updated everyone on the Kids Safe Summer that was held. 3> Together We Can The nest meeting is July 20 Sub-groups are also meeting. 4> Human Service Cabinet Will meet again tomorrow at 10:30 at the Senior Center. Kathleen Jespersen All report on Youth Center in Bourne. John Clarendon and Sandy Bradly will have a couple of kids come in and give a report on the Sandwich Youth Center. R Human Service Directory is being put together for the town. Concentrating on services that are available to the individuals who are in the town. June Forni showed the committee the directory that Head Start put together. S>BYLRWS UPORTE Gus has been trying to find by-taws from the previous committee by contacting people. They either do not know or they have been lost. He has contacted Jerry Carter a number of times, the Selectmens office, and the personnel office which normally takes care of board secretary's or committee secretary. They have nothing. Rlso, the Superintendent of Schools because normally copies or reports would go to them. Diane Rommelmeyer, MaryRnne Gibbs - no one has bg-laws or minutes. Gus said he look over Leisure Service Committee by-laws and gear them for this group. 0 Mission Statement Proposed guidelines were discussed. Our main focus should be "to enable youth of Mashpee to become involved in existing programs, by providing adequate financial assistance". NEW BUSINESS R> Barnstable County Youth Council Sheriff 's Dept. has a wealth of information on funding and activities that go on with that but they get so much material they cannot keep up with it. They don't know how to get it out. We will look at areas where we can get some funding. Children and Youth Funding Report. The nest meeting will be in Boston at the Grant Center. B> Leisure Service Reoorl Gus indicated that the new principal starting at the Middle School and he would set up an appointment with him to discuss use the facility usage at the school. June Forni would like to see a community calendar. OTHER DISCUSSION R> Other Discussion Marita Scott and the other members have concerns regarding the youth of the town. June Forni discussed finding what the needs of the youth are and Jody Granucci brought up the issue of trying not to duplicate services. June also mentioned the need to reach the parents. Many parents have their awn problems and are unable to give much time to their children. Jody said that transportation is a big problem for many of the children. Gus felt we needed to step beyond surveys. We have all the information we need to get things going with information contained in the Youth 2000 report. B> R discussion took place on obtaining a bus. Gordon felt this should be a group effort. C> Financial aid was reviewed. Gus would come back to the committee with a proposed form. Rlso, guidelines would be set up such as: Ualid Mass. I.D. Card; Food Stamp vouchers; Welfare Card; Caring for Children Medical Security Card; and Head Start. With no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 9:40pm REUISED - PER 7/26/94 MEETING
