• Mr. Dinizio noted that Lowell Road/0ld Barnstable Rd will see a
large increase in traffic (for 151 site) and is already a
dangerous road .
Bill Jones asked if they knew of any studies on payout of putting
in sidewalks to save money on busing?
Mr. Abend has not seen any study like that.
Bob Writenhour explained the Town has a comprehensive bikepath
plan and are aggressively pursuing starting it.
Tom asked Mr. Abend if he would be doing any traffic projections
in general on the roadway, trips generated? Mr. Abend can do
something like that. He will review some of the upcoming
developments in town with Tom and any traffic studies done.
The Committee mentioned the stalled development of 750 units
(Southport) on Lowell road.
UPDATE FROM BOB WRITENHOUR
Bob Writenhour told the Committee they have finalized the
contract with DRA.
The appraisal work has gone out to bid and bids will be in
• shortly.
There were problems with doing testpits on private properties.
Town Counsel is strong in his opinion recommending the town not
go on any private property unless the owners have given
permission to do so. Mr. Writenhour first sent a letter
notifying owners of what would be happening and then a second
letter with a sign off on the bottom to be returned .
In the meantime DRA has done test pits on the town property.
They have received permission from Fields Point and Leary.
He stated they are trying to push ahead on these issues as fast
as they can but are making sure all proper steps are taken .
He told the Committee to contact him at any time with questions.
Mr. Writenhour will personally coordinate with Mr. Franceschi the
permission responses and which parcels GZA needs to get on .
The Committee mentioned to Mr. Writenhour their concern about a
slow response from Town Counsel , especially with the appraisal
contracts. The appraiser may not begin work until they have a
legal contract.
Mr. Writenhour stated he will come up with the appraiser's
contract in house, incorporating the RFP and response, fax it to
counsel and have it completed in a couple of days .
Mr. Dinizio asked Mr. Writenhour how he proposed the person
• (appraiser) be selected and brought on Board to start work?
Mr. Writenhour would like to see Tom Fudala be the technical
2
