\ MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTE$
MONDAY, JANUARY 20 , ,,1994— :16A. to
Nl
TOWN HALL 0 1
Present: Merry Sue Ahlgren , Peter Dinizio, Bill Martiros, Bill
Jones , Joe Polito, Paul Griffin , Steve Greelish (5 : 10 )
Dr. Lincoln DeMoura, Bob Whritenour, Tom Fudala, Bill Hauck
Absent: Janice Mills
Meeting convened at 4 : 06 p. m.
MINUTES
** Ms .Ahlgren made a motion to except the following minutes:
Nov . 29 , Nov 30 , Dec 7 , Dec. 11 , Dec. 14 and Dec. 20.
Bill Jones seconded the motion . All members were in
favor.**
COMMITTEE DISCUSSION
Chairman Dinizio explained the .Committee will meet with the
Selectmen tonight at 7 :00 to discuss operating procedures . This
Committee did not follow the designer selection procedures
because they only recommended 2 firms to the Board of Selectmen
and it is required they recommend 3 firms.
Mr. Dinizio also has some questions for the Board of Selectmen .
- Who is their liaison to this Committee?
- What do they want his Committee to do for the designer 4
selection process - interview all the remaining firms? Do due
diligence on the 2 remaining firms (from the 5 selected for
interviews)?
Bill Jones noted this Committee did not make formal scorings on
all 10 proposals. They should have documentation for all the
bidders. Peter explained documentation is required for the top 3
firms.
Questions, continued :
- if the Selectmen are going to attend the interviews and they
will be making the choice, those not attending previous
interviews should review the tapes to give those firms a fair
chance . Only 2 Selectmen attended the previous interviews.
Mr. Griffin thinks the 5 firms already interviewed will be in a
handicapped situation . There is more of an impact to "see the
presentations personally .
Mr . Griffin added the Selectmen seem to have no respect for the
ability of this Committee to do this job. They say the process
is rushed, but have not shown any of these firms have credibility
problems, they are all highly respected throughout the State.
This Committee has to get a strong statement from the Selectmen
on what they want the Committee to do for now and in the future.
It is not fair for the members to spend the time we have spent on
this project only to have the Selectmen criticize us.
1
