Tom will send a memo to Stone with a list of anticipated Building Committee
meeting dates and they can work back from there for their prevailing wage
info.
The Board tentatively scheduled their meetings :
Jan. 30, Feb. 13 , 27 , March 12 , 26 .
Tom said they have had a number of inquiries from people looking for the
prevailing wage information.
They have also received a written request from a resident who wants copies
of the requisition.
These people should be charged for the copies and that money should be
given back to Stone because they provide the copier. Tom will talk with
Jane Labute about fee for copies and whether they can charge for the time
he spends.
PROFESSIONAL FEES
SMMA submitted a proposal to design the dual fuel systems for $12 , 135 .
Paul asked the Committee if they really want to do this . He is concerned
about the real cost to install this system. The gas company called him and
said if the school puts in an oil system, we will have to pay for the gas
line .
Merry Sue noted the Cape Cod Commission also has concerns about oil .
Dr. DeMoura is concerned about environmental problems, in Falmouth they had
a oil leak.
Bill said that the Com Electric plant was recently converted to dual fuel .
It gives you leverage to negotiate .
Paul asked Joel to confirm the numbers. It is the Committee ' job to see if
this is a good value for the town. He asked Joel for a ballpark figure of
what it will cost to install and asked him to look at the study, prepared
by Chartwell, for the estimated savings.
Paul wants to be sure of the facts before spending $12 , 000 to design it.
OFF SITE IMPROVEMENTS
Phase I , Old Barnstable Road improvements, were submitted to Greg Taylor.
He will give his comments to VHB ASAP and then SMMA will issue a proposal
request to Stone.
Phase II : SMMA has not heard anything yet form MA. Highway.
Tom will talk to Greg Taylor about expediting Phase II .
FF & E: Merry Sue explained Manny Tavares is ready to go to bid with the
furniture. He needs approval from this Committee. There will be a copy of
the documents in Dr. DeMoura's office next week.
After reading the documents, if the Committee wants any changes they could
issue an addendum.
** Paul made a motion to inform SMMA to notify their vendor (Manny
Tavares) to prepare the documents and advertise for tenders for
furniture and equipment. Merry Sue seconded the motion. All
members were in favor.
5
