Mr. Johnson asked if he could address the Board of Selectmen. He requested being a participant
at that meeting, he requested an opportunity to address the Board of Selectmen at the earliest
possible time to express Stone's desire to finish the job.
Pat Costello said they did that today at this meeting.
Mr. Johnson said he is nervous about the feedback he is getting now. He wants the opportunity
to advance Stone's cause. They need to know how the town will re-act.
Pat Costello said this is a very serious matter. He appreciates that Mr. Johnson has come on the
scene late.
Mr. Johnson responded that they had to prepare for this meeting in a vacuum. Stone received a
threatening letter and that put them in a defensive mode.
Pat Costello explained that is was a notification letter.
Mr. Johnson said he spoke previously with Bob Whritenour and explained that Stone does not
want to default,we want to work with the town. He has had no opportunity to meet with the
architects or Mr. Costa.
Bob Whritenour responded to Mr. Johnson that he comes into this at a point where the Board of
Selectmen have already met on this issue. Now at the 11 'h hour you request an individual
meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen to talk to him about the course of action.
This has been discussed with the entire Board of Selectmen and they established a process.
Communication should be with the professionals and entire Board of Selection. We decided to
have this meeting to bring the parties together. You can't just sit down and have a meeting with
the Chairman to decide the future of this project. We need to find the best way to complete this
project.
Pat Costello said they will note Mr. Johnson's request to meet with the Board of Selectmen and
they will be made aware of that.
Mr. Lizza said Stone's incentive is to get this job done as quickly as possible. Let's roll up our
sleeves and look at the schedule. The schedule can change accordingly. If speed is the goal the
alternative approach would be a lot longer process if Stone doesn't finish the job. It will take a
long time at a tremendous cost and risk to everyone. The most economical approach is to meet,
work together and move forward.
Pat Costello said when all is said and done, the sole issue the town will consider is how to get
the job done in the quickest manner, they will not deviate.
The meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m.
Minutes submitted by Arden R. Cadrin
6
