MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES
TUESDAY,FEBRUARY 5, 1997
HIGH SCHOOL
Present: Bill Martiros,Peter Dinizio, Steve Greelish,Merry Sue Ahlgren, Paul Griffin,Joe
Polito,Janice Mills
Tom Wren, Jim Byrne,John Williams, Mike Pietrowski,Mike Kirwin
Meeting convened at 4:01 p.m.
MINUTES
** Merry Sue made a motion to accept the minutes of December 17, 1996 and January 7,
1997. Janice seconded the motion. All members were in favor 7-0**
OPEN HOUSE
The Committee reviewed a draft of the open house program. The subcommittee(Merry Sue and
Janice)are looking for any comments,by February 21". Also, notify them of anyone who should
receive an invitation(Perkins and Will,Dr. Calabro,Al Polsi).
CONSTRUCTION ISSUES
Paul explained that an automatic flusher was installed on one of the toilets. The plumbing
fixture was in violation of the handicap regulation, this will solve that.
Jim Byrne purchased it and the maintenance staff installed it. It cost$232 and about 10 minutes
to install.
Jim Byrne received a price for motion sensors in the classroom -$205 per room . This is greatly
reduced from the contractors price. The Committee will review the information and get a total
cost and then maybe it could be done by building sections, using the school electrician.
FF & E Technology update
Mike Kirwin explained that a meeting is being set up with Dr. DeMoura to go through each
vendor, what was ordered through them, delivered and a contact person, etc.
Paul explained the reason for the meeting. There are some issue that need to get resolved.
A situation arose with lotus license, the vendor said he fulfilled his contract by delivering the
product but he couldn't provide proof of delivery. The box could not be found.
All of these vendors have a responsibility to get the project signed off by Jim Byme or SMMA
team. They can't arbitrarily ship to the site and say they have completed the contract. So now,
we are going through all of the contracts and all of the responsibilities associated with it.
Mike Kirwin said the risk of loss stays with the contractor until acceptance. He recently issued a
letter on that issue.
He said the lotus license box was found so it can now be installed.
Steve said because there is no one system administrator, the system is being corrupted in minor
ways. For example the system password got out a few times. This cannot happen. This could
be extremely expensive if we don't get a handle on this. There needs to be a certain amount of
