 1
MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES
TUESDAY,JANUARY 7, 1997
HIGH SCHOOL
Present: Paul Griffin, Bill Martiros,Merry Sue Ahlgren,Joel Seeley, Jim Byrne,Ian Aitchison,
Janice Mills,Peter Dinizio, Dr. DeMoura, John Williams
Meeting convened at 4:03.
Bill asked where we stand on the fuel tanks?
Joel said there was a letter from Bob Whritenour asking the Cape Cod Commission to take the
tanks off of this permit so this permit can be closed. When and if it happens, a subsequent
permit will be applied for. There was an agreement to close out this permit because all
conditions have been met. When the final tank decision is made, we will apply for a new
permit.
Bill asked what will determine if we do apply?
Paul said it was tabled until the Committee decides whether we really want to do it. We can't
spend any money now, it will have to wait.
Paul suggested to the Committee finding an electrical contractor to give us bids on installing
motion detectors in the classrooms.
Merry Sue said we should at least get bids to see what it will cost.
Paul said people are not turning off the lights as often as we had hoped they would
Merry Sue asked about setting a date for a dedication?
Janice recently talked with Dr. DeMoura about this. He would like to wait until all things are .
running. Paul said we are about 1 month away from that. We will discuss it again at next
month's meeting.
CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS
Paul explained that we did not get much progress from Stone over the vacation. The epoxy
floors did get done and they did a really nice job. Joel agreed it looks much better.
Paul explained that motorcycles have been driving on the basketball courts. There are no plans
for a fence around the basketball courts. Paul suggested putting a 2 foot barrier/guard rail to
keep cars off of it.
Joel asked it that will keep motorcycles/dirtbikes off of it?
Paul said a fence would not do that because it has doors that a motorcycles can fit through.
PA Landers has not yet installed he fence around the track. Paul asked Jim to have them to
install a temporary barrier around that area.
-There is a man here today to install the motor for the overhead door.
F F &E Technology
