CHANGE OF TELEPHONE OR RESIDENCE
Parents are required to complete a personal data/emergency information form at the
beginning of the school year or upon registration during the year. Please provide all the
necessary information on the form. We must have your home phone number. Cell
phone numbers should be provided. Also, please note that two local emergency contacts
are required by the school so they may be reached within a reasonable amount of
time. (No off-Cape numbers, please.) In case of an emergency, we will phone home first,
then work, the cell number and then the emergency contacts. If, during the school year, a
student's address or telephone number is changed, parents/guardians are required to notify
the school in writing so that the student's records may be kept up-to-date and to ensure that
the school's emergency information is accurate.
DRESS AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE
The Mashpee Public Schools requires students to maintain an appearance that is conducive
to good health and appropriate conduct. We adhere to all normal safety concerns and strive
to maintain an atmosphere and climate of warmth and acceptance for all. The following
guidelines are regarding appropriate attire. The Principal shall be the final judge of
adherence.
• Local and state laws prohibit bare feet. Appropriate footwear should be worn at all
times. Flip-flops should not be worn.
• Hats and jackets (any kind) are not to be worn in the building by either boys or girls.
• Wearing apparel must meet the safety requirements of the class.
• Clothing with alcohol, drugs or other inappropriate language or symbols is not allowed.
• Clothing that detracts from the learning environment is not allowed. These include
see-through garments, tank tops, exposed midriffs, short shorts, extremely short skirts,
muscle shirts; blouses, shirts or pants that expose underwear, halter tops, tube tops.
• Sunglasses may not be worn in the building without a doctor's note, but may be worn
to school, for recess and upon dismissal.
• Student dress, including total appearance, should be within reasonable limits.
The parent(s)/guardians(s) of a student in violation of the school dress code will be called
to bring an appropriate change of clothing to school. If no one is at home, the principal or
the principal's designee will find suitable clothing to wear.
FIELD TRIPS
Field trips form an important part of the educational plans for the students at Mashpee
Public Schools. Such trips are planned with the utmost care and parent/guardian help is
sought in assuring safety at all times. Teachers insist upon good conduct and do
everything they can to make the journey one of many worthwhile learning experiences.
It is required that all school regulations will be adhered to on a trip and on the bus that
extends outside of,but is sponsored by, the school.
15
