TOYS,ETC. <br /> Toys, iPods, CD players, radios, skateboards, games, playing cards, stuffed animals, electronic <br /> games, etc. are not necessary ingredients in our educational program and may not be brought to <br /> school unless with specific prior approval of the teacher or administrator. Lost, stolen or <br /> damaged items cause serious emotional issues or `crises' for children this age. The school is <br /> not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged articles. <br /> JEWELRY/VALUABLE PERSONAL ITEMS <br /> These items must remain at home. The school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged <br /> articles. When something happens to students' personal property, serious emotional issues or <br /> `crises' result. <br /> VIDEO/PHOTO/NEWSPAPER MEDIA RELEASE <br /> During the school year, we would like to publish student involvement and activity at school in <br /> videotapes, photographs, newspapers, etc. These media productions would include events such <br /> as science fairs, classroom projects, author hours, plays,musical performances, Open House <br /> programs, etc. These works would be kept in-house and for educational purposes outside the <br /> school system. All final products will be viewed by the school's principal before release. The <br /> tapes and film shall remain the property of the school system. There is a sign-off page at the <br /> back of this handbook. Please return it to school as indicated. <br /> SECTION II <br /> TRANSPORTATION <br /> BUSSES <br /> Busses will be equipped with video monitor surveillance cameras. <br /> • Bus stops and routes are developed by the School Department in <br /> coordination with the bus contractor. All students are to get on and off at <br /> their own designated bus stop. <br /> • Students will not be permitted to change busses except on a permanent or <br /> emergency basis. A written note outlining the nature of the emergency must <br /> be submitted to the main office or school principal. <br /> • The parent or adult designee of the kindergarten student must be present at <br /> the bus stop for morning pickup and when the child is transported home <br /> in the afternoon. <br /> • Busses will use the circle in front of the school to drop off and pick up <br /> students. No other vehicles are admitted during posted times into the circle. <br /> • IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO PASS A SCHOOL BUS THAT HAS A <br /> STOP SIGN AND/OR FLASHING LIGHTS. POLICE TAKE NOTICE <br /> AND YOU MAY BE TICKETED. <br /> • If you have bus concerns, please put them in writing to the building principal <br /> so they may be addressed by the principal. If your concern is taken to the <br /> Transportation Task Force, you will be notified of the date and time of the <br /> meeting by the principal or the principal's designee. You may and are <br /> encouraged to attend the meeting. <br /> 24 <br />
