Due to space constraints and other school issues, parents/guardians/visitors may not drop <br /> in for lunch with students. There will be opportunities during the year for breakfast or <br /> lunch due to school-wide functions or individual teacher/classroom created events. <br /> In the Library: <br /> • Conduct business quietly. <br /> • Handle all materials carefully with clean hands. <br /> • Find a safe place for borrowed materials so they will not be lost or damaged. <br /> • Return materials on time. <br /> • Lost or damaged books/materials will be replaced by the parent/guardian at cost. <br /> On the Playground: <br /> • Varied activities and materials are available and can be used on the playground— <br /> clay, chalk, books, tricycles, helmets, hoops, sand toys, etc., for children seeking <br /> alternative play. <br /> • Shaded areas are available during play. <br /> • Be prepared for outdoor recess everyday when the temperature/wind chill is 20 <br /> degrees or above. Below this temperature requires indoor recess. <br /> • Send your student dressed for the weather or field trip: coat, snow pants, hats, <br /> boots, gloves, sunscreen(applied at home prior to coming to school). <br /> • Sunscreen is encouraged and should be applied at home. <br /> • Use playground equipment and items from home safely and correctly. <br /> • No hard bats or balls may be used. <br /> • Ask an adult for permission to leave the playground area. <br /> • Stay within the area designated by the teacher. <br /> • Rocks, sticks, sand and snow stay on the ground. <br /> • Contact sports/games that require safety equipment are not allowed <br /> • Line up quickly and quietly when signaled. <br /> Due to safety issues,parents/guardians/visitors may not drop by for recess with students. <br /> There are specifically assigned school monitors whose responsibility it is to supervise the <br /> children each day. <br /> In the Lavatories: <br /> • Wash hands after using the facilities. <br /> • Use paper products and facilities correctly. <br /> • Report any problems to an adult. <br /> • You are responsible for your own privacy as well as that of others. <br /> On the Bus: <br /> • Wait safely at the roadside. <br /> • Carefully board the bus one student at a time. <br /> • Stay seated during the trip. <br /> • Talk quietly. <br /> • Follow the bus driver's instructions at all times. <br /> • Distraction is a safety problem for all riders. <br /> • Get off the bus at the appropriate stop.
