MEMBERSHIP <br /> • Any parent whose child is involved in the Special Education Program. <br /> • Any interested persons who subscribe to GOALS AND PURPOSES above. <br /> MEETINGS <br /> • Meetings will be held once a month or at least four (4) times during the school year. <br /> • All officers will be required to attend all meetings. <br /> • Decisions of the membership will be made by consensus. <br /> • Voting shall be by ballot. <br /> RESTRAINT POLICY <br /> The use of de-escalation/physical restraint as a behavior management technique will be <br /> utilized only with extreme caution in emergency situations, after other less intrusive <br /> alternatives have either failed or have been deemed inappropriate. In the event that physical <br /> restraint is required to protect the safety of school community members, Mashpee Public <br /> Schools has enacted a physical restraint policy in accordance with Massachusetts <br /> Department of Education guidelines. <br /> M.G.L. Ch. 71, Sec. 37G; 603 CMR 46.00 There are regulatory requirements regarding the <br /> use of any physical restraint on Mashpee students. Physical restraint is only used when <br /> needed to protect a student and/or a member of the school community from imminent, <br /> serious, physical harm. The Mashpee Public Schools implements restraint procedures <br /> consistent with the Department of Education regulations. Mashpee staff are trained on the <br /> use of restraints and the district maintains records of any restraint lasting over five minutes <br /> or where injury to the staff or student occurs. Questions regarding the Mashpee physical <br /> restraint policies and procedures may be directed to the building principal. <br /> Mashpee student and staff safety is a district priority. <br /> SCHOOL NOTICE OF NON-DISCRIMINATION <br /> No person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in their application for admission <br /> to a public school of any town, or in obtaining the advantages, privileges and courses of <br /> study of such public school on account of race, color, gender, religion, national origin or <br /> sexual orientation. <br /> EQUAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY ACT - 622 <br /> Chapter 622 applies to equal education opportunities for all students of public schools. <br /> Every course taught must present fairly the culture, history and contributions of people from <br /> different races, nationalities, sexes, religions, and colors. <br /> 36 <br />
