TELEPHONES <br /> School telephones are business phones and are not for student use except in an emergency. Student <br /> cell phones are not permitted in school. <br /> STUDENT/LIBRARY BOOKS <br /> Books which are issued or loaned to students are the property of the Mashpee Public School <br /> Department. Students are required to keep books in good condition. A student who loses or <br /> destroys a book will have to pay the replacement cost of the book. <br /> TRUANCY <br /> Parents/guardians are required by state law to ensure their child's attendance at school. Excessive <br /> unexcused absences and/or tardiness/early dismissals may result in the administrator or his/her <br /> designee filing a Child in Need of Services (CHINS) report to the court, filing with DSS and/or <br /> notification to our school's attendance officer. This may result in a home visit. (See Attendance <br /> Policy on pages 11/12) <br /> TOYS,ETC. <br /> Toys, iPods, CD players, radios, skateboards, games, playing cards, stuffed animals, electronic <br /> games, etc. are not necessary ingredients in our educational program and may not be brought to <br /> school unless with specific prior approval of the teacher or administrator. Lost, stolen or damaged <br /> items cause serious emotional issues or `crises' for children this age. The school is not responsible <br /> for lost, stolen, or damaged articles. The Kenneth C. Coombs School is not responsible for the loss <br /> of or damage to such personal possessions. <br /> JEWELRY/VALUABLE PERSONAL ITEMS <br /> These items must remain at home. The school is not responsible for lost, stolen,or damaged articles. <br /> When something happens to students' personal property, serious emotional issues or `crises' result. <br /> VIDEO/PHOTO/NEWSPAPER MEDIA RELEASE <br /> During the school year, we would like to publish student involvement and activity at school in <br /> videotapes, photographs, newspapers, etc. These media productions would include events such as <br /> science fairs, classroom projects, author hours, plays, musical performances, Open House programs, <br /> etc. These works would be kept in-house and for educational purposes outside the school system. <br /> All final products will be viewed by the school's principal before release. <br /> The tapes and film shall remain the property of the school system. There is a sign-off page with <br /> this handbook. Please return it to school as indicated. <br /> 23 <br />
