SEPAC Meeting Minutes Mashpee Public Schools Date: Wednesday,May 14,1014 Present: 11 Next meeting: TBA 6:30pm at Quashnet School Michele Brady,Special Education Director and Nancy Dugan,Special Education Assistant Director, facilitated the meeting. Eleven people were present consisting of administrative staff,teachers,and four parents.This meeting was held in the Quashnet School Library. • • Review of the minutes from the February 12,2014 and the March 12,2014 meetings were reviewed and accepted. • Handouts were distributed for the following: +6 By-laws of the SEPAC Challenger Club's Summer Recreation offerings and summer calendar 44 Kids Connection Summer Field Trip offerings __._._._. ._,_.-•_There was discussion about changing the time of the SEPACmeetings from Wednesday to __� Thursday evenings or possibly during the day to encourage md're parent participation. • We discussed putting out three reminders for the upcoming meeting using different methods such as email,automated phone messaging,and text messages. • Other ideas to connect parents to the SEPAC included creation of a FaceBook page,student participation creating a SEPAC logo,a form distributed at the annual IEP meeting that parents sign to acknowledge SEPAC eligibility,a SEPAC brochure,and a quarterly newsletter. • Election of Officers: Chairperson,Gillian Dorman was re-elected, Marie Younger Blackburn was elected as Vice Chairperson, and Patricia Bernard was elected as Secretary. • The MA SEPAC will hold a meeting at the Barnstable Intermediate School at 895 Falmouth Road in Hyannis on June 10,2014 from 7pm to 9pm.There was discussion about who might go from the Mashpee SEPAC to represent our schools. • The following ideas were considered for future workshops at SEPAC meetings: • Basic Rights(requirement)
