Kenneth C. She discussed the
web-based sign up and it usefulness to parents who wish to volunteer.
• The characteristics and conduct of a School Council were reviewed.
• It was determined that many families find the school website convenient. This cost-
saving measure provides important information when necessary and as needed.
• Goals are math focused.
• Marykate O'Brien continues Everyday Math series work with K-6 staff. The staff is
committed to focus on continual gains in Math.
• District will continue to work on literacy, anti-bullying, etc.
• District-wide Formative Assessment goal will measure a student's ability. Using the
Everyday Math program, teachers can assess each student's strengths daily and
focus on individual needs.
• Kenneth C. Coombs School students will be engaged in ongoing activities in and out
of school to teach the responsibility of serving the community. The Council will be
involved with promoting and supporting interactions between students and Mashpee
senior citizens to encourage community service and citizenship.
• Suggestions include clothing drive, PTO School/Home partnership, evening parent
education workshop with guest speaker, visits to the Mashpee Public Library, field
trips to the computer lab at the Boys and Girls Club, activities at the Mashpee
Senior Center or the Optimal Care Center.
• Last year's School Council goal to align Math Night with the Everyday Math series
was a huge success. Past School Council goals included Mashpee Reads, Math Night
restructuring and assisting the School Committee with budgetary suggestions.
