Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and <br /> statewide student performance standards <br /> 2. Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school <br /> 3. Reviewing the annual school building budget <br /> 4. Welcome <br /> Introductions took place, and we reviewed the four major areas of responsibility listed above. <br /> 2. Establish norms (5 minutes) <br /> We reviewed and discussed how we will function as a group—specifically looking at: <br /> Time,Listening, Confidentiality,Decision-Making,Participation, and Expectations <br /> 3. Review/make changes to proposed 11-12 School Council Meeting Schedule (5 minutes) <br /> (3:15 PM to 4:15 PM—Quashnet Conference Room) <br /> October 6, 2011;November 3,2011; December 1, 2011; January 5, 2012; <br /> February 2, 2012; March 1, 2012; April 5, 2012;May 3, 2012; June 7, 2012 <br /> Everyone present agreed to the above proposed dates for our SYI 1-12 meetings. We will meet on <br /> Thursdays from 3:15 –4:15 PM in the Quashnet School main office conference room. <br /> 4. Overview of SY11-12 changes/improvements in place at Quashnet—(5 minutes) <br /> I reviewed/discussed the following: <br /> Interactive white-board technology in every homeroom (SMART or ENO boards) <br /> Empowering Writers—new K-6 writing program <br /> Integration of computer with library as a special—Computer lab was relocated to facilitate this. <br /> Staff changes: <br /> Mrs. Donovan shifted from grade 6 teacher to grade 7 teacher at MMS for this year. <br /> Ms. Werfelman shifted from grade 5 teacher to the open grade 6 teacher position. <br /> Ms. Goulart came on board to fill a one-year grade 5 teacher position. <br /> Mrs. Blount returned from a one-year leave of absence to be a grade 5 teacher. <br /> Mrs. Carotenuto became our science specialist,taking the open position created by the <br /> retirement of Bob Bailey. <br /> Mrs. Whiddon was hired to be a grade 5 teacher(formerly Mrs. Carotenuto's position). <br /> Mrs. Sweeney was hired to teach library/computers,taking the open position created by <br />
