"Mashpee Cares"—A community-wide effort to develop a plan to address social issues involving Mashpee youth
and their families. There are a number of areas that need our attention, including bullying, drug abuse, suicide
prevention, gang activity, and helping young people learn how to manage the stresses in their lives. These issues are
bigger than the schools and a coalition of adults representing health organizations, law enforcement, advocacy, and the
business community is needed to work together to support the young people of Mashpee.
It was shared that the next "Mashpee Cares" meeting would take place tonight: Thursday,
March 3, 2011 from 6:00 –7:30 in Room 139 at Quashnet
3. We will also be discussing in greater detail at our
next meeting specific changes related to consequences given for student misbehaviors on the
busses. We hope to change the 5-offense structure/consequences. Mrs. DeBoer will be
working with the Superintendent and other administrators on this.
4. Other
School Committee Meeting: 3/2 (no further discussion at today's meeting)
Transitioning: 2"d to 3rd; 61hto 7th
March 7, 8, and 9: Two classes of sixth graders will shadow at MMS on each day. Sixth graders will also eat lunch at MMS and return to Quashnet
at 11:30 AM.
